I had the combo with Halloween black sesame buns, matcha, and edamame salad.
the only problem was the edamame wasnt heated, and the shell was too hard and fibrous to enjoy, but the inside was still good. (4/10 Not to my liking but others may enjoy.)
The buns were really good and somewhat gently flavored, somewhat chocolatey, not overwhelmingly sweet, and the breading was nice and doughy with a nice dark grey coloration for the outside. (10/10)
The matcha had a shot of espresso I ordered in it, The taste of the matcha was strong enough to not be overwhelmed by the espresso, and it was very flavorful, medium level of sweet, and generally very nice. ( 10/10)
Portions for combo were somewhat small but definitely good for the price as a snack or small meal. (7/10)
Service was quick and friendly. (10/10)
Generally a very calm place to eat, music wasnt overwhelming, lighting was pleasant. (10/10)
Overall a good experience with good food. I will...

Pillow soft, perfectly steamed buns melt like a savory cotton candy in your mouth.
The Char Siu and the Curry Chicken were a perfect ratio of filling to bun with balanced flavor.
I did not see xioa long bao (soup dumpings) on the menu (yet?), nor drinks offered. I suspect this is a soft launch and hope more good things are to come as popularity grows. There is a refrigerated case with buns to take and steam at home. Perfect since they are only open 11:30 to 2:30 Tues- Sat.
Welcome back, Chef Romina, and nice to taste your work, Derrick and Dwight Yee. Like many others, I was sad to see Les Madeleine depart, but I'm excited for this new culinary adventure that's easily accessible in...
Read moreI was sad to see Les Madeline's close, but I'm a fan of Chef Romina and I was excited to see what she would do next. I tried three bao (steamed buns) the other day. The texture and appearance of the bao were excellent, with the soft buns contrasting with the fillings.
Unfortunately, the flavor of the fillings was lacking. In the Chicken Curry Bao, I only tasted a hint of curry. The Char Siu Bao and the Pork-Cabbage Baos were similarly lacking flavor complexity. I wasn't expecting or looking for intense spiciness, but I expected a more savory, umami sort of experience.
I'm going to try another time after giving them awhile to settle in. I like the concept and the easy portability of the bao. It's a fun eating experience. I'm hoping they will develop a more robust flavor profile for...
