I usually don't leave reviews, but this is the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor's office! I had a consultation in December for ptosis repair and scheduled procedure for end of February. The office had over 6 weeks for the paperwork to be submitted to my insurance for review and approval for the procedure to be conducted under anesthesia at a surgical center. I received a call that my insurance approved the procedure and when I asked if it was at the surgical center I was told no, it was submitted to the insurance has an office procedure. I requested that they resubmit as surgical center procedure and if it was not approved then I would need to appeal. Literally the week of the procedure I called several times, sent to voicemail and never received a call back. I finally had to walk into their office to get answers. At that time, I was rescheduled for a month later so the office would have time to resubmit the insurance for approval at a surgical center. Now the office had another 4 weeks to get this done. A week prior to the procedure the office called to collect the doctor's portion of co-insurance. At that time I asked if my insurance had approved the surgical center. I was told that I needed to call the surgical center about it. (WHAT?) So, I called the surgical center and, as I thought, they told me that the doctor's office should coordinate the the procedure and submit to insurance (I knew that but was just doing due diligence per instructions from the doctorās office.) I called back to the doctor's office, same day, and left a voicemail that went unanswered the rest of the week. I received a call the week of my procedure to collect for the doctor's portion of co-insurance and asked again if my procedure was approved by the insurance for the surgical center--they didn't know. Finally the day prior to my procedure the surgical coordinator called. I asked her if my procedure was approved for the surgical center---"ummm, let me check. It appears that is, yes." Well, I have NO info on when to be there or any additional details! "Well, I'm not really in insurance. You mean, the surgical center hasn't called you?" By this time, I was not confident and extremely uncomfortable with proceeding since this office couldn't seem to get it together. I cancelled the procedure and going to another doctor. I'm sure the doctors are great but INCOMPETENT is a nice word to use to describe...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrifically disorganized. Iāve never had such consistently bad experiences at a medical office before. I was referred to eyeplastx by my eye doctor because I had a stye that turned into a chalazion and needed to be removed. Since then I have been to their office 3 times, once for a consultation, then the procedure, and last for the follow up. Each time I ended up having to wait almost an hour past my appointment time. I am a patient person and understand things happen, but waiting three times in a row for such an extended amount of time is ridiculous. At my consultation I almost decided to find somewhere else to go for my surgery because everything was so disorganized I was feeling very nervous about getting a procedure done there. But after meeting Dr. Holck I felt much better because he seemed very knowledgeable and professional. Although come surgery day they changed doctors on me without letting me know, and this doctor didnāt seem as confident and I didnāt know his experience. I was terrified and already stressed because they had asked me to come in an hour early for my appointment then just to have me wait in the procedure room for another hour. Thankfully the doctor I did end up with did a great job and was very kind. They booked me for my followup appointment for today at 10:30 but without me knowing they changed my appointment to 10:15, so imagine my surprise when they call me at 10:25 as Iām on my way to the appointment to tell me Iām late and might not be able to see me. They told me to still come in so I did and again, waited for an hour. I also wasnāt the only one who waited for so long, there was another woman in the waiting area whoās appointment was at 10 and she very nicely asked when she was going to be seen because at that point it was almost 11, and the staff was SO RUDE TO HER. They just raised their voice at her and didnāt answer her question at all. By the time I was finally seen I was so frustrated. I would have left but they make you pay when you get there so I would have lost $115. So over all, please look elsewhere. Iāve never been to a doctors office that was so disorganized and with such rude staff. And I will be sure to tell my eye doctor who referred me to consider not sending her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOver an hour wait time. Front desk staff ignore that there are no seats available and do not offer a seat in one of their other rooms. No water available or offered during a two hour wait. The only "treatment" l received was a steroid injection in a scar very close to my eye. The scar looks just the same. No improvement. Was sent to get eye lids lifted in order to see better ( just like my Mom and sisters required) l felt l was dismissed. Returned and was now told l should have an brow lift instead but your insurance won't pay for that. BIG WASTE OF MY TIME! IN ALL FAIRNESS, THEIR DOCTORS ARE THE ONLY ONES IN THE SAN ANTONIO AREA ABLE TO DO COMPLEX SURGERIES INVOLVING THE EYES. They didn't want to mail my medical records to me. I have to hand carry them to a military hospital. Very smooth about l would have to come in to pick them up and still had to pay $25. Not at all accommodating for the aged or chronically ill. EVEN MORE CONCERNING, WHEN I FINALLY DID GET A COPY OF MY MEDICAL RECORDS... THEY HAD THE PICTURE OF ANOTHER PATIENT'S DRIVER'S LICENSE, ALL HER PRIVATE, PERSONAL INFORMATION THERE FOR ME TO SEE! THOUGH MY NAME WAS LISTED ON THE TOP... THOSE RECORDS WERE ABOUT HER CONDITIONS, THE TREATMENT SHE HAD RECEIVED AND A Description OF AN UPCOMING PROCEDURE ...AND WERE NOT MINE! EACH OFFICE VISIT REPORT HAD THE EXACT SAME, WORD FOR WORD Description. THE ONLY "TREATMENT" I RECIEVED WAS TWO INJECTIONS INTO A SCAR NEXT TO MY NOSE. THE WOMAN, WHOSE RECORD THEY HAD PRINTED OUT FOR ME, WAS SCHEDULED FOR SEVERAL SURGERIES AND THERE WERE Instructions FOR HER UP COMING PROCEDURE. I HAVE TO FEEL MUCH CONCERN THAT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION HAS GONE TO OTHERS. THE MAJOR ISSUE IS THAT THEY RELEASED A COPY OF MY MILITARY I. D. WHICH CAN CREATE A NATIONAL SECURITY RISK FROM counter fitters. Their office manager just blew me off when l said l had been given instructions by Dr. Martha Schatz to report their very dangerous mistake. I asked him if he wanted me to mail the other patient's records back. Without hesitation, he said, 'Oh, that won't be necessary. So anybody could have my information and a copy of a government access...
