I've been going here for over 25 years and it's always a pleasure. I wish I could tell all the stories where Roger and/or Yasuko went WAY over the top to help me. We're talking legendary service here folks. And particularly for bike service, none priced better. I once snapped the seatclamp bolts on a bike I'd bought several years previous and had abused heavily. Yasuko actually left the shop and walked to the hardware store to buy higher grade bolts so they wouldn't break again. No way that should have been a warrantied repair, but they did it free. Everybody's got stories like that - just ask around. If you see a bad review here and there, remember that it's a tiny shop that can get too busy sometimes - some people can't handle that. Go get some service at one of the fancy shops next time and you'll find you and your pocketbook crawling back to Bernies with a new outlook. We're lucky to have a local bike...
Read moreTo all San Diego cyclists,
Iâve been cycling 30yrs and have been to many bike shops throughout California. However, this bike shop is the best quality, fastest credibility and best priced Iâve ever encountered. I remember bringing 3 mountain bikes for a tune-up back in 2009. Most bike shops take 4-5 days but Roger had the bikes ready in 3hrs which completely blew my mind and I knew this shop was very special.
Roger and his hard working wife Yasko are absolutely the best in San Diego. Whatever you need, this âbike geniusâ will fix any bicycle right on the spot if not busy. I was so impressed that I usually volunteer my time to help in anything needed because I love cycling. I usually âtipâ Roger $5, $10 or $20 to get me back on the road ASAP. If anyone finds a better quality bike shop with service and price in San Diego...please contact me and I will give...
Read moreMostly great Service and Prices, however, they have a tendency to overinflate tires. I'm not the only one on this. While waiting on two separate occasions, two other customers complained that Bernies did something to cause their tires to pop just after leaving. I then left and three hours later my tire burst! (Not puncture, BURST!) Thats overinflation.
Doublecheck all other work too, cus they sometimes miss a few things!
Lastly, their shop could use a little organizing and tidying. Maybe that costs too much labor, but a few hours of organizing displays would do a lot of good for everyone.
This shop has the potential to be a Top Rated Shop if they'd just apply a little more...
