02/20/24 Return of the Best of the Best in salads I've craved...Miso at CPK-Fashion Valley along with my FAVORITE pasta. The jambalaya with spaghetti is a Yummy YUM YUM favorite.
Thanks, Benjamin, for the pasta lover's redo and to all who were a part of bringing this salad back. PLEASE MAKE IT A REGULAR!!!For any who remembers this salad when it came with the lump blue crab meat along with shrimp so understand my happiness. The dressing made in-house now is delicious...yes, I order more, because I need it! Me and sauces I tell you...I like what I like.
Who==none other than Awesome Annie!!! She served me fresh from the beginning and stayed the course, and now the SDSU soon to be graduate whose unique name slips me at present is my back up for excellent servitude. Another update to follow as returning for great service and my Miso Addiction is what it is==YUM Thank you for a chance to share good to any and all and for a wonderfully delicious experience!
02/06/24 Dining too late can often meet with poor results...this was the case for me. I stopped dining at CPK due to the poor service on the consistent scale, and the food at times would follow. I purchased a $100 gift card w-E bonus $20...willing to give them a try as another local place I've tried to be loyal too as a long- time reward member.
Server William...cold hard bread from the top. Solution per William was that it would take 5+ minutes for fresh bread and I shared how "I thought I deserved that". My lemon creamy sauce chicken pasta had more water than cream as the photo will show. Some like it but I didn't at all. Remedy was Benjamin the manager who just started there, and was nice to listen and wanted to offer this and that.
I don't want to see the manager for any other reason than to say nice things...didn't come redo's just what I ordered, and to dine as if you would want to be served all around. Thanks Benjamin again for the gift card to get the pasta ...
Read moreI recently visited California Pizza Kitchen and had a delightful experience. The food was simply delicious! We tried a variety of dishes, including their mouthwatering pizza, a flavorful club sandwich with a delightful bacon taste, the scrumptious shrimp scampi, and an indulgent Birthday Sunday. Each dish was incredibly tasty and left us wanting more.
The pizza we ordered was perfectly cooked, with a delightful balance of flavors. The crust was just right—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. It definitely satisfied our pizza cravings.
Now, let me tell you about the club sandwich. It was a true standout! Packed with generous layers of savory ingredients, the combination of flavors was outstanding. The bacon added a delightful smoky taste, complementing the other ingredients perfectly. It was a definite highlight of our meal.
The shrimp scampi was another winner. The shrimp were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and the scampi sauce had a wonderful blend of garlic and butter flavors. It was a delightful dish that left us wanting more.
To top it all off, we indulged in the Birthday Sunday, and it was the perfect sweet treat. The combination of ice cream, toppings, and sauce created a delightful explosion of flavors. It was a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion.
Overall, our experience at California Pizza Kitchen was fantastic. The food was undeniably delicious, and each dish we tried left us impressed. The pizza, club sandwich with bacon, shrimp scampi, and Birthday Sunday were all exceptionally tasty. The restaurant provided a great dining atmosphere, and the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend California Pizza Kitchen for a delightful and...
Read moreI'm not sure what happened! I'm not sure if this is a one-off or if this is the way that California Pizza Kitchen on Friars Road, in Mission Valley Mall, actually operates.
It was bad, really bad. I am a fan of California Pizza Kitchen and usually have nothing but good things to tell my friends about my experience, but this time ... oh boy!!
We ordered an appetizer, and the appetizer didn't come until after our meal arrived. When we asked the waiter about the appetizer that we ordered, he said that we did not communicate properly that we wanted the appetizer before our meal arrived, and all the food would come out at one time! It defies logic and actually defies the purpose of an appetizer. (And note to reader the appetizer did not come out with our salad and pizza it actually came out after!)
There were no utensils on the table, so when our food finally did come, we had nothing to eat with. The wine that we ordered arrived at least 20 minutes after sitting down, and it would have been the only thing to keep your mind from wandering and thinking "what the heck are they doing", "what is going on here!!!"
The wait staff in the restaurant was too busy vacuuming, sweeping, and cleaning to actually ask if we or any of the other guests that were just sitting there waiting for their food, utensils, condiments to arrive, needed anything.
And then ... our Sicilian pizza arrived. but it had to send it back!! It was so bad that it tasted like cardboard, and the pepperoni on the Sicilian pizza was chewy .... it was literally gross.
Be careful here if you're going. I would say there's too many really nice restaurants in Mission Valley Mall to actually take a chance eating at California...
