I really like Lifetime because it offers a lot of bang for a lot of buck. I frequent the facilities closest to me in Arizona (shoutout to the Biltmore and Fashion Square locations) and used Lifetime La Jolla while I was there several weeks for vacation. Itâs great to have the opportunity to work out in a familiar facility even when away from home.
The La Jolla Lifetime is nice enough and the location is great â but you can tell they inserted the gym into a space that wasnât originally designed for it. Make do with what you got, right? Locker rooms, Life Spa, and studios are upstairs, while Life CafĂŠ, weight floor, and strength/cardio spaces are downstairs. I took a GTX here â Sydney ran a great class.
There was no way they were fitting a pool in the space, and the roof wasnât designed to accommodate one â understandable, though I think that would be an awesome addition. Still, this facility even lacks a wet suite with spa and cold plunge â pretty disappointing.
My biggest gripe is that the weight floor is too jammed together. The equipment isnât spaced out enough due to the space itself being too small for a full weight floor. Machines and cables where you should really have some wiggle room to move about are place awkwardly close to other machines or right in the middle of pathways. The free weights are racked in no specific order, so you have to scan for a minute each time you want to find the appropriate dumbbells. And thatâs even if theyâre racked correctly.
The Alpha, GTX, and general cardio areas are full size, and thatâs awesome. But this facility should either downsize those spaces and reconfigure the weight floor to make better sense, or simply get rid of some of the weight machines so that thereâs more room. There's a lot of room for improvement configuration-wise in...

âĄI don't want to give you my phone number this early in my exploration. âĄI REALLY don't want a dozen or more missed calls from a phone number I don't recognize (thus won't answer) OR a voice message that needs a follow-up phone call (more customer effort). âĄI REALLY REALLY don't want a call reminiscent of a 'timeshare' pitch to get simple pricing.

Read moreThe absolute rudest people in any gym I have ever been to. They think highly of their little tiny gym, our LifeTime in Cary NC has a rock climbing wall, indoor and outdoor pools with water slides, this tiny strip mall gym is so small it pales in comparison.
We have been members of LifeTime fitness since 2017 and have never experienced the rude, self righteous attitude that this LifeTime location has.
Ended up going to a gym we are not members at and received stellar service and got in for FREE. LifeTime is so different than these jokes of people claiming to be "from corporate"
We spend a ton of money with the LifeTime Gym membership, two separate personal training contracts, plus money spent daily on food/protein drinks.
I just got off the phone with the actual LT corporate and she (Melissa, corporate concierge) and she confirmed that the email I referenced did indeed exist and I will be getting with the owner, Bahram as she said he loves to hear from members.
Here is the article that went out to all members and employees explaining the travel policy, they claim to never have heard of it...
