The location can’t be beat. The rooms weren’t super-fancy, but they were very nice. They did not have cheap, small bottles of cheap bath products, but full, refilled bottles of good shampoo, conditioned and body wash. Housekeeping came every day without request to make our bed, refresh towels and tidy up. The bathrooms are modern and nice. We stayed for 5 days and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We had a room on the south side of the building; ocean view from the side with a balcony. We were on the third floor (356) and could see roofs, but could also see dolphins jumping in the surf each morning. The boardwalk is right outside the front of the hotel, yet all we could hear was the ocean as we slept with the screen door only all night long. I was a little nervous that we’d hear our young neighbors up all night on a Saturday, but the walls must be pretty thick because we didn’t hear any neighbors in the 5 days we were there.
The Wayfarer would be wise to say “no speakers allowed” in the pool area. Being there for 5 nights, we saw two different sets of families that were blasting a speaker. 97% of the guests were relaxing, talking quietly, reading books. And then a group of 2 families came in with a bunch of little kids, ready to party, 2 separate times. I’m not sure you can stop parents from getting drunk and ignoring their kids. But at least if there are no speakers allowed, they’d be able to hear their kids screaming? The louder the music, the louder the people talking, and the louder parents are yelling at their kids. Now I didn’t pay for an adults-only resort and so kids were expected. (If you think you’re going to relax in the pool and hot tub, you’re not. Unless a bunch of little kids is relaxing to you.) But what if I also had a speaker and had wanted to blast it as loud as the person next to me? Again 97% of us were relaxing and chilling and it would’ve been great if we could’ve continued to do so without having someone’s music playing loudly, taking all of their voice volumes up above the music. Easy fix: NO SPEAKERS ALLOWED. If people want to party, they are lucky in this awesome location. Just take 20 steps out to the boardwalk or a loud, music-heavy bar and...
Read moreI absolutely loved my four night stay in room 361. It was just what I had hoped for. The staff is exceptional. I will call out Mike and Fernando Bello. Mike was so friendly and helpful. Fernando is such a hard worker! He was cleaning the salt buildup/rust from the exit gate at the pool that goes to the boardwalk and it was such a tedious task but he never let up! He was constant, consistent and rarely took his eyes off the job. My room refrigerator was coated with ice and was affecting it's performance and who comes to change it within 30 minutes? Fernando! So courteous and a lovely human. Ya'll need to keep these two folks! To be fair, I never encountered any employees that wasn't really great. To be honest, I would return in a heartbeat but I feel like I really lucked out with getting an oceanfront on the 3rd floor and I'm no so sure I'd luck out again like that. Upon returning I have raved about my accommodations but then have to add "but you're not guaranteed where you'll be assigned so you could end up on the ground floor". I would NEVER want to be on the ground floor, ocean front room! #1 I'm a single woman and travel alone much of the time; I just wouldn't feel safe. #2 when I do travel with others, it's other women and we would need two queens but ocean front rooms with two queens aren't plentiful and that just hinders my chances for being on any floor other than the 3rd. #3 the cancellation policy is pretty strict so if I showed up after traveling 1000 miles and was assigned anything but the 3rd floor, I'd be so disappointed. So considering the risk and the all over cost, I would have to find an accommodation on the beach where I knew what I was getting before I arrived. It's disheartening and sad because the location is really perfect and for a hotel where there's sea/salt air 24/7, it's in pretty good shape. Some of the carpet is in poor condition in the halls, but again, I have to consider the circumstance. I have zero regrets with my decision to stay at the Blue Sea Beach Hotel, but am really disheartened that I may never return. It was a lovely stay, fed my soul and rejuvenated me just how I...
Read moreBooked this through Expedia - loved the location - it’s a busy scene - many surfers, people and activities right outside door) close to many restaurants ( mostly local dive or casual places but good nonetheless) the pool and ocean view from patio are key!
It wasn’t terribly busy barely saw more than 10 other guests whole time . Little cafe open for snacks and breakfast on the go- I wouldn’t recommend zephyr cafe for real breakfast or lunch ( most food was pre- made but ok tasting and reasonable) but good in a pinch for food before going out surfing or enjoying the beach walk. The coffee was ok. My room on second level felt pretty safe - woman traveling alone. It was a large room modern decor but when you look closely it was pretty well worn (rug, shower head was awful, mirror was a bit mildew in the main room, curtains and rods were a bit worn and hard to open/close) it had good temperature control. Comfy beds and awesome pillows and clean. Though my room was not ocean front - it had a little patio I could see peek a boo ocean and liked being able to hear ocean. Though I wish I would have been comfortable sleeping with it open but there was a little fence anyone could climb to get into room ( again single woman traveling)
I heard lots of movement at night ? Granted it was Halloween weekend) it was not loud like partying just movement all night long surprisingly the outside noise did not disturb this was more the room above or perhaps elevator traffic ? The staff was not overly friendly a bit indifferent but i did not really need to interact much. Would stay here again if price was right. It’s not like a 4 star hotel/amenities it’s really location that sells this place!
Across the street catamaran resort had great views of bay- calm vibe and great food if looking for more...
