Second Time here. First time about 1.5 years ago. We arrived Mon Jan 30 about 2pm. It wasn't too busy. They gave us an inside beach side table right away. A beautiful sunny clear day. probably about 70 degrees outside with no wind.
The five of us ordered 6 main dishes, 1 soup and and appetizer. All were very very tasty. The lobster bisque was hot, full body and tasty. A good choice, not watery or thin.
Favorite appetizer (starter), hands down is Nut Crusted Brie with mango chipotle glaze. The Mango chipotle glaze was a big hit. Just enough spice to give you a pleasing pop for your taste buds, and you actually enjoyed the sweet taste of mango to contrast the Chipotle spice. Could have just eaten the brie as a main meal.
We ordered the Crabcake Sliders as additional appetizer for our table⦠It was three dungeness crab cakes(each crab cake about the size of a swedish meat ball) served in fresh baked brioche mini buns, sliced tomato, green leaf lettuce, thin red onion and house made caper tartar sauce with a side of crisp seasoned fries
The seasoned French fries came with 3 of our dishes.....really good fries, we think they were coated with a panko bread crumbs, made them crispy, crunchy and irresistibly good.
I ordered the Sierra Mar Grilled Sea Bass prepared char grilled cold water seabass served over fresh avocado, roma tomato, bermuda onion, timbale drizzled with white balsamic dijon chive vinaigrette. I was looking for a non land meat dish, and this hit the spot. If you like fish, you'll like this.
Fish and Chips, nice golden brown breading, and hit the spot with my friend. They are Beer Batter Fish And Chips...cold water white icelandic cod fried in World Famous' micro brew beer batter served with crispy fries and homemade tartar sauce
Poke tacos, a bit of a twist from how Hawaiian poke is served. It's made with fresh ahi tuna marinated hawaiian poke style, served in three crispy wonton taco skins over guacamole, ginger wasabi drizzle & sesame seeds.
If you like angel hair pasta and clam sauce, try World Famous' version: Capellini California, it's angel hair pasta tossed in a light clam garlic olive oil sauce with roma and sun dried tomato, fresh basil, spinach, asparagus, greek olives & grated parmesan cheese.
Lastly, Prime Rib Baguette thinly carved prime rib served in a french baguette with balsamic dressing, horseradish sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and jack cheese.
Everything was delish, served quickly, hot and tasty. Having our lunch at beach side on a sunny day is a plus plus.
This is a place we will definitely return to when we can. We like the food and service a couple years ago, and we liked it this time. ...

My boyfriend and I were looking for a classic San Diego beach brunch and decided to try World Famous. We arrived around 10 am on a Sunday and were told the wait would be about 40 minutes. Luckily, we got a text that our table was ready in only 20 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated outside in a shady spot, which was perfect since it was already getting hot.
The one major drawback was the strict menu schedule. I have an egg allergy, so I was hoping to order from the lunch menu, but we were told the kitchen wouldn't start those orders for another 45 minutes. It would be great if they could be more flexible with allergies. When I was finally able to order, I got the fish and chips without the chips due to a potato allergy and chose a side salad instead. The fish was a bit heavy on the batter, but it was flavorful. The side salad was pretty standard, nothing special. A suggestion for the menu would be to offer sweet potato fries as an alternative for people with nightshade allergies.
My boyfriend had a much better experience. He ordered the World Famous Wipeout and said the bacon was perfect and the pancakes were delicious. Our server was very sweet and attentive throughout our meal. The Drunken Mermaid cocktail was also a hit!
We would consider going back, but next time weāll aim to arrive closer to lunch service to avoid the wait for the kitchen to open the lunch menu. Overall, a nice spot with good service, but the menu constraints were a significant issue for...

We made a reservation for the four of us ahead of time to ensure our spot by the sea was available.
LOCATION When we rolled in a few minutes tardy, we were immediately seated at a 4 top table on the patio overlooking the beach. TheāPEOPLE WATCHINGā is free entertainment and perhaps makes this joint extra slay. I appreciate the tall plexiglass to provide a barrier from us and the local human wildlife. Parking looks dicey, but we walked from our rental house and couldnāt personally comment on the experience.
VALUE Itās rare to eat at a touristy local spot and not feel completely ripped off at the end of your meal. The Harpoon Combination was plenty of perfectly cooked salmon, 2 shrimp, and 2 scallops for $34.
SOUP Lobster Bisque is FIRE
SUPERB SEAFOOD I love the variety available on the menu and look forward to trying more of their dishes next time. The sauce for the Harpoon Combination was fantastic and I just wish there was a veggie included or available to add on a la carte. If you have somebody who suffers from Seafooditis dining with you, they will have ample options to pick from.
SERVICE Exceptional server who was knowledgeable about the menu and enthusiastic to be part of our evening.
My only regret is that I didnāt take any photos of the...
