I was significantly overcharged by them. We asked when we made the reservation if all the insurance was included in the price that they showed us and was told yes, then when I looked at the charge to my credit card it was over $120 more than what I was quoted, including taxes. After two calls to their customer service line, after some difficulty getting the information, I was eventually told that they added 4 various insurance charges that I never agreed to. Now I wonder if the person at the desk lied to me when I made the reservation, in order to get more commission. They also billed me an extra $16 for gas, even though I returned the car on a full tank.
VERY SHADY and dishonest about how they conduct their business. Look up this company on Consumer Affairs or the Better Business Bureau right now - they rate very poorly with customers, and many others have reported similar experiences like mine where they were overcharged for no reason. Sounds like this is just normal business practice for them.
It's a very convenient location, especially if you are staying at the Hyatt Regency, but I would recommend finding a different company to rent a car from. If you have to go with them, ask them to explain all of the charges and insurance so that you don't get any surprises- but still fully prepare yourself for mystery...
Read moreFRAUDULENT CHARGES OF 561 DOLLARS I rented a car from Feb 14 to 16. Did a 2 day roadtrip and left the car on the evening of Feb 15 with the Valet service of the Hotel. This after hour drop off service was being advertised for 25 bucks at the counter and I advised the agent during check-in that I would leave the car there. He told me to just leave the key with them - nothing else. I'm an international flight attendant (so I rent cars all the time and make use of key drop boxes, Valet returns etc..) and flew back home to Europe the next day. About 8 or 9 days later I see a charge of 561USD on my credit card. I had not received any sort of communication from budget. At the end of Feb I got an invoice saying I kept the car till Feb 23rd and dropped it off somewhere else in SF. I contacted Budget on different channels and they are just ignoring me. On Feb 23rd I had already flown to Brazil and back. I provided them with the receipt of the valet service and still no refund. I will have to go to court I assume. So mind this place...
Read moreThere was only one person working the counter. Which created a long wait time to get processed. In our case about 45 minutes. Getting though the lineup is just the first hurdle. Then you must wait outside until the car is brought to this site from another site. This was an additional 30-40 minutes. Although Budget offers unlimited millage at most locations this one does not. We were charged 45 cent per mile. And although we paid upfront, we were charged an additional “Per week fee”. Adding an additional $600 to our total. In the future I will rent from Budget again. However, I will rent from a larger location like an airport. And I would verbally confirm that there is no extra “Weekly” charge. Which is the most ridiculous charge. I would also confirm if there were a millage charge or if there is unlimited millage. Not only will I never come to this location ever again. I will purposely avoid smaller locations like this. For the reasons outlined above. I would give less than one...
