I was so excited to visit this restaurant and left really disappointed. I never write negative reviews but I hope this review will be seen and taken with a high level of consideration as my visit to Harborview was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had unfortunately.
Myself and three others made reservations for 5 PM due to a later flight. We got there and were taken to the second floor. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for anyone to come ask us for drinks, despite having two tables close to us (the only three tables in the restaurant with patrons) being served. Once we did order our drinks, staff immediately began setting up for a party in a large room behind us. It was quite distracting but we understood - however, staff then began breaking down the tables right next to us. Rolling large tables in and out, taking down table clothes, etc. It was distracting and no one said anything about the disturbance. We got our food at odd and different times (my meal came before someone's appetizer; an appetizer came before drinks) and meals were not explained - just placed on the table. Throughout dinner wait staff stood by our table watching us eat - it was very uncomfortable and made us feel like they were rushing us out. We were never asked if we wanted additional drinks. A large party was occurring (we were told at 730; however, the party seemed to be in full swing around 6 PM) but I don't understand why the restaurant also accepted dinner reservations.
Myself and the three others I was with left the restaurant still hungry and very upset. I hope this restaurant re-evaluates how customers are treated and whether or not dinner reservations should be accepted when large parties...
Read moreI brought my two co-workers along thinking that harborview would be a great experience. I heard the food was great, it was fine. The atmosphere over looks the bay, which it does but what are these pens on the table? Oh, it’s for the person to sign their checks faster to leave… why? What I’m really writing this review about is the service or lack of. There were multiple times when I got a waiters attention to ask for something, only to be dismissed.
The first one looked at me, mumbled something and walked away. The second one did the same thing. It happened again a 3rd time and I was fed up. My colleagues who were sitting at the table with me were shocked at what was going on and I’m there feeling embarrassed and started feeling disrespected. My colleague called one waiter and he was doing the same thing, mumbling and trying to walk away, but before he could take a step away, my colleague said “can you get someone that can help us then?” And he finally called over the waiter that helped us earlier. I was fuming at that point. I’ve worked in the service industry and to be passed by without any assistance was beyond rude.
I understand that the restaurant can be busy or our waiter is occupied, but there is no reason to not try and help the customers if they can or let our waiter know we are in need of some assistance. This has left a very sour taste in my mouth and ruined my experience at the harbor view on Embarcadero 4. I can’t recommend anyone going there after this experience and I used to. Read more(3/12/22) I went here with my family. I recommend getting a reservation so you don't wait an hour or more for seating. The dim sum was good. My party said the black sesame soup dumpling was disappointing since it didn't taste any different then the normal soup dumpling. And the amount of the soup in the soup dumpling was disappointing - but we can't tell if the soup as absorbed by the neat. The fried chicken wings and duck was delicious! The noodles we got was not worth it. Most of my family said the food was not worth the price.
A lot of my party enjoyed the robot that goes around delivering food.
e I ended up coming here with my bf's family for showing the robot to the kids. Sadly their system ended up crashing and the robot was down. Even though we had a reservation we had to wait an hour because of their crashed system - we almost went somewhere else because there was no eta on when their system would come back. They did accept getting the parking validated (before the system was back on) so that was good. My first review still stands at 3 stars because I think the food is good but not for the high price they are charging. The food in both visits were mostly different so we tried a lot of different items on the menu. I don't remember the entire food order. But what I remembered was the sugar coating on the pork bun with sugar coating was weird since I'm used to the bun being only savory. The soup dumpling was still just ok.
