This review is much later than I anticipated, but after our entire experience we have to share this amazing company and owners! I went to Van in November 2019 with a short time frame before I started planning the proposal. He not only gave me more insight into diamonds and rings and helped me choose the best setting for my soon to be fiance! Not only was he very open to creating her custom ring using an heirloom diamond I received from my mom but he made me feel very comfortable (aside from being so nervous to start this step). Once I saw the setting I knew she would love he then asked if I wanted to get the wedding band so it all matches at the same time and I thought that was a great suggestion especially since it was going to be a custom setting anyways. I was able to pick up the rings about a week before Christmas 2019 as my proposal was to take place on Christmas even with her mom in town. When I arrived both Van and his wife Tatiana shared my excitement as well as helping me feel more relaxed that the time has now come to the end. And when I saw this ring it settled in that this was the perfect ring. Thank you both for making this experience one that I want everyone to have, and have been recommending to anyone talking engagement rings or just jewlery in general.

My fiancé and I worked with Van at the Jewelry Exchange Co to design my ring, and it was a fantastic experience. Van is highly experienced and knowledgeable, and we decided to work with him after meeting with several other jewelers -- and have no regrets!

Working with him is much more personalized and intimate an experience than some of the larger businesses, which can feel a bit commercial and mass-market. He was very responsive, low-pressure, and helpful in answering all of our many questions. We knew we wanted a high quality , 2ct+ natural Ceylon blue sapphire center stone, which is a little less conventional and harder to find than diamonds - but within a week or our first meeting, Van let us know that he had shipped in a number of sapphires based on our parameters. These ended up being the highest quality and best value sapphires of any that we'd seen with other jewelers, either in SF or in NYC.

He didn't just help us find the best stone, though - he was thoughtful, pragmatic, and felt like a partner rather than a salesman throughout the process. Ultimately, I'm thrilled with the beautiful ring that Van created for us (well ahead of timeline and at a reasonable price, I might add) and highly recommend him to any couples looking for a custom...
