Update July 2025: I continue to see Carl for ongoing spine maintenance/other physical issues that come up and am constantly re-impressed by his knowledge and ability to get to the root of the issue quickly. Update March2023: Carl helped me get back to normal after being diagnosed with several pinched nerves in the neck. My symptoms were moderate to severe: referred pain in the shoulder, limited range of neck motion, and the worst for me: weakness and pain in my right hand due to nerve compression and irritation. I used a combination of wonderful providers: PT, MD, and acupuncture and all were important. However, the method Carl works with, proprioceptive deep tendon reflex (P-DTR) is like laser focused body work, almost surgical in its precision of testing nerve function and response to treatment, in my case, down to each finger on my right hand. After about 5-6 sessions , my hand strength is normal and each finger has its full strength and range of motion that had been pretty compromised approx 2 months ago (and also no more referred shoulder and hand pain). Carl worked successfully on a long standing issue I had with a constriction deep in my shoulder that I tried to address with various modalities such as body work, acupuncture, physical therapy, and yoga. There were certain areas in the upper body and one shoulder that would not completely release, and though some of the aforementioned therapies did help for a short period of time, the areas of constriction would not completely go away and the issue would come back to its baseline within a few days to a week of the therapy. This time was different: It has been approximately 1 month since Carl worked on my shoulder and the effects of his treatment has lasted the longest as far as my shoulder feeling more released and the joint feeling normal and not bound up. The techniques he uses are different than anything I had encountered previously and he related a past surgical scar ( surgery was not in the shoulder but another area of the body) and the long standing neurological effects of that surgery, to the areas of constriction in the shoulder. His work is based on cutting edge information/techniques of neurological feedback and activity and I highly recommend giving it a try, especially if you have a long standing physical issue not addressed by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been seeing Carl for almost two years now, and he keeps finding ways of helping me become a better version of myself. I'm a professional circus performer, and I thought I had to retire early because my body was rejecting me. In the circus world any trick worth learning involves lifting, squeezing, and engaging your abs and pelvic floor, and I guess mine got stuck that way. My hypertonic pelvic floor effected me in two ways: My splits and backbends became very tight and painful to stretch, this I could ignore, It's just pain and I am getting olderā¦. The other way it effected me I couldn't ignore, I felt like I was going to pee myself minutes after going pee. When I finally decided to deal with this weird embarrassing problem my doctor put me through all kinds of fun tests, and put me on all kinds of not fun drugs. All while telling me there was nothing wrong with me and I should just stay close to a toilet, thanks.... An EX-boyfriend begged me to try different things and recommended Carl after taking one of his classes on NKT (neurokinetic therapy) I went to Carl a broken mess, on prescription drugs, a shadow of myself. He got me to a place where I stopped taking the prescription drugs and I started to feel like a person again. He also fixed other circus injuries along the way, like that old painful shoulder that had been bothering me for years... Gone! Also he tested me for a few common food intolerances, and because of the results I'm off nightshades and dairy, and back on gluten. I couldn't be happier with how I feel after making these changes. Now I'm better then ever and he's my personal trainer, getting me re-excited about exercise after all these years. Carl is very smart, he knows his stuff, professional and nice, I bake him cookies, cause he's the kind of guy you want to bake...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCarl has been very helpful and supportive during the time weāve worked together. His compassion and care is apparent and the work he does is pretty unbelievable. My situation, for whatever reason, hasnāt been as straightforward but heās continued to show up with an optimism and determination to keep chipping away at things. Iāve definitely seen improvement, especially if I think of how much pain I was in one year ago when we first started to work together.
I have a long standing hip injury that has kept me from my normally very active lifestyle, often causing pain in most circumstances unless I am in a horizontal position. Iāve spent a lot of time, energy, and money trying to minimize pain and figure out what is going on but until working with Carl, nothing helped to minimize the pain. Though the hip thing is still an issue, I am in much less daily pain than I was one year ago and have been able to lead a more active lifestyle.
Iāve also had a shoulder injury (~8 years post-op bankart repair due to recurrent subluxations) that I re-injured 8 months prior to seeing Carl. During those 8 months I couldnāt use that arm for anything without a lot of paināturning the steering wheel while driving, putting on pants, etc. all caused immense pain. After a lot of PT and working with many practitioners, no one had any idea what was going on and Carl was the only person who was able to help. After one session in particular, it was like night and day and I was able to start climbing again.
His work is very effective. If the situation isnāt straightforward, his care and commitment to figuring it out are very reassuring and keep things hopeful. But not in an unrealistic kind of wayāhopeful because his work is constantly evolving and there are frequently new...
