A Path That Fits (APTF) was first recommended to me by my therapist in late 2023 because of how unhappy I was at my job. Like many others, I had chosen a major in college and my jobs thereafter based on advice I had been given as a child – in my case, do something that has job security and makes good money. Nine years into my career, I had worked very hard, gotten multiple promotions, and made good money, but I hated my job. For the first time in my life, I lacked motivation, zoned out at meetings, and stopped caring about my work quality – all red flags for me. I joined APTF with the hope that I could discover a career that would bring more meaning to my life while maintaining my lifestyle.
I joined the Career Pathfinder Group Coaching Program which offers a fully built-out online course, group coaching sessions, accountability buddy assignments, and access to the APTFs Facebook community group. I really appreciated how much thought went into the creation of the course. The first handful of modules guided me through a thought-provoking and insightful process to discover and/or reacquaint myself with my innate gifts, passions, and personality. It prompted me to engage in deep reflection and unlocked a type of child-like honesty and joy for who I truly am and what I like to do without the judgements of, “Will this make money?” and “Is this realistic?”. It was freeing and was the first step to me believing I could find something more meaningful to do for a career.
During the second half of the course, I enjoyed the practical tools provided to help me research jobs that align with the above findings, conduct informational interviews, test drive your new career, and handle fears and limiting beliefs as they come up. I loved that the course was designed in a way that takes into account the spiritual, emotional, and practical aspects of going through a career pivot – a truly holistic approach.
Amanda Halabi (one of the coaches) was an instrumental part of my journey. As a self-starter and fairly disciplined person, I didn’t initially see the need for a coach, however I will tell you right now that it makes ALL the difference. The process of thinking about, doing the research, and actually undergoing big career changes is overwhelming. For every moment I would gain hope and optimism during the course, I would later experience even stronger feelings of uncertainty, doubt, and fear of naivety. Every conversation I had with Amanda left me feeling the complete opposite. She would help me reconnect with the part of myself that had the courage to embark on this path in the first place, find self-compassion for the ups and downs of the journey, reframe discouraging thoughts from my inner critic, and walk away feeling at peace that I was exactly where I needed to be. It was her coaching that ultimately helped me gain the inner strength and resolve to do what I knew I had to for a while, but couldn’t get myself to do – quit my job so that I can have the time and space to reconnect with who I am outside of my corporate image in order to find a more meaningful path in life.
As I write this, I am 1.5 months into my journey post quitting. I am currently exploring career and life coaching, still very much following the steps outlined in APTFs, and seeking Amanda’s coaching along the way. While it’s scary to not have a source of income, I also have a deep knowing that this is the right move for me. The excitement, curiosity, energy, and passion I feel each day as I explore my new career interest is equally freeing from the many restrictions and limiting beliefs I had placed on myself for years. I give a lot of credit to Amanda for helping me realize the gravity and impact of said limiting beliefs/fears so that I may gain the strength to...
Read moreI found A Path That Fits at a time in my life where I was feeling a lack of fulfillment and direction about my career. I knew I didn’t see myself continuing down the career path I was in, as it felt forced and unenjoyable, but I had no idea what I wanted to do instead and felt extremely lost.
Right away, A Path That Fits gave me hope. I did their Career Pathfinder online program, which was an affordable way to dig deep and explore who I am and what I’m meant to do. It gave me hope that there was a structured program that would guide me in the thought process of exploring my strengths, gifts, interests, and passions.
The fog lifted when I went through the process of identifying my strengths. I realized the job I was in utilized the skills I was weakest in. No wonder I felt unfulfilled! Through APTF's Career Pathfinder program, I was able to realize what my true strengths actually are and start to explore what careers would actually be a good fit for those strengths as well as my passions. Of course I had doubts throughout the process, but just when I would start to doubt, there would be a program section on dealing with the inner critic that would get me back on track. There is also a Facebook group for all participants that helped keep me motivated.
The best part about A Path That Fits is that it led me to my calling! I was able to “claim my path” by the end of the program in a way that felt SO true and right for me. I am now starting to work in a role that is aligned with my path, and the other day I had an “aha” moment where I realized I am exactly where I am meant to be and feel completely fulfilled.
And while the program itself is amazing and self-sustaining, the program’s creator, Adrian Klaphaak, makes himself readily available for 2 group coaching sessions per month and would happily respond to emails and questions I had throughout the program. It was so clear to me that Adrian cares deeply about his life’s work of bringing other people to their life’s work.
I can’t say enough good things about A Path That Fits. It completely changed my life and brought me to a path of career fulfillment. I would not be in the happy, joyful, and fulfilled place I am now if it weren’t for A Path That Fits. 1000% worth the investment. Can you really put a price on career...
Read moreI couldn't recommend working with Adrian and following his "A Path That Fits" program more highly! I originally found his career coaching on Yelp several years ago when I felt deeply lost around what I should do professionally. I was spending a lot of time in "what if I..." thoughts around potential careers but I didn't know how to assess what would be a good fit for me. I felt blocked and I didn't know how to move forward.
A Path that Fits is a really structured program. The more thoughtfully you do the exercises the more you will get out of it. If you're going to do the program I recommend mentally committing a process of self-exploration and expecting to set aside time to devote to the exercises. The program helps you learn about your personality, skills, and interests. Based on that information, you explore what careers might be a good fit for you. The focus on conducting informational interviews and finding small ways to test out potential careers before fully committing to one career was really beneficial.
From the program I ended up testing out two new careers, product management and psychotherapy. I landed on product management and I feel incredibly aligned between my natural skills and interests and what the work is asking of me. While I may not stay in product forever (as I may pursue a career as a therapist in the future), I no longer feel this sense of untapped potential and lack of clarity around what I should do next. I'm no longer stuck in a state of indecision and paralysis. With this new direction, I have so much more energy and feel so much more aligned and "in my path".
While I imagine all the coaches at A Path that Fits are great, I worked with Adrian and I couldn't recommend working with him more highly. He has a natural gift for helping people sort through confusing emotions and getting right to the core of a problem in a non-judgemental and caring way.
I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is considering a career switch / confused about how they should be directing their energy. Going through the program has had a HUGE positive...
