Brandy Melville - Santa Barbara — Local services in Santa Barbara

I visited this Brandy Store in August 2024. I was really excited to visit as I am from the UK where it’s not available in most cities. The clothes were very nice and I did buy something. However, the staff truly lived up to their reputation of being unfriendly.

Two girls, who were staff as they were putting away clothes, were at the door loudly gossiping about a ‘kleptomaniac‘ from their high school and saying very judgemental things about girls 'who are still friends with people from high school'. I was shocked at their brazen attitude and felt immediately uncomfortable in the store. I had to squeeze past them as the store was small disorganised and very messy with piles of clothing on the floor and in random places.

The same girl from earlier was on the till when I went to pay. She didn't smile or act friendly towards me which was disappointing as I wanted to ask about the item I couldn't find but felt too uncomfortable. She only asked me if I knew about their returns policy.

The visit shocked me as I had heard about Brandy Melville employees being rude but did not believe it was so bad until this experience. I did visit another Brandy store in San Francisco where the staff was lots more friendly and helped me find what I was looking for so I do think it’s the culture at this specific store which...

If could give this Brandy Melville zero stars I would. I traveled to SB from LA & have been to multiple brandys in California and even Europe and this location was the worst one l've been too. I walked in with my girls & immediately a worker is fixing the clothes around where we're looking practically walking through me/bumping into and did this MULTIPLE times absolutely disrespectful as a person as an employee. I felt extremely uncomfortable not being able to look around comfortably and knowing I'm not a size 0 already makes me uncomfortable walking into a brandy let alone a disrespectful employee, on top of that a selection was trash, even a pacsun has better selection. If this review gets to management I went in 6/11 around 12:15-20 PM 3 girls working on floor the disrespectful employee had reddish hair jeans and dark blue purple sweater please have a conversation with this employee or find people will make the shopping experience at this location more comfortable. I used to go to this store a lot when I was in France and was excited when I found out they were opening one here in Santa Barbara. The clothes are really nice but the customer service is HORRIBLE! The employees don't do much except gossip at the counter. My sister and I have been there twice and each time they've treated us pretty rudely compared to the white customers. They'll stare at us when we walk around and one even followed us around, they wouldn't let us bring our bags into the dressing room and when the line was long we decided to go in one fitting room together but they wouldn't let us (even though the other two fitting rooms had 2-3 girls in them too).
