⭐ Disappointing Experience with Authenticity Issue
I regret to report a highly unsatisfactory experience with The Closet Trading Company. I purchased what was presented as an authentic YSL bag for over $2,000, accompanied by purportedly verified documentation. However, subsequent events have cast serious doubt on the authenticity of this item.
Upon noticing a hardware malfunction, I contacted YSL directly for repair services. YSL took the initiative to ship the bag to their facilities in Paris for assessment and potential repair. However, following their evaluation, YSL's response was concerning: they informed me that the bag was not genuine and therefore ineligible for their repair services. This information was both surprising and deeply disappointing, especially given that the item had been examined by the manufacturer's own experts in Paris.
Following this discovery, I promptly reached out to The Closet Trading Company to address the issue. Unfortunately, their response has been less than satisfactory:
There have been significant delays in email communication, with many messages going unanswered. When responses are received, they often lack concrete solutions and instead defer the issue. Attempts to schedule in-person meetings with management have been unsuccessful, with multiple rescheduling incidents.
The lack of resolution to this serious matter is concerning. The sale of inauthentic items, particularly at premium prices, raises significant questions about the company's authentication processes and business practices.
As it stands, I have invested a substantial amount in an item that has been deemed inauthentic by the manufacturer's own assessment in their Paris facilities. The company's apparent reluctance to address this issue promptly and effectively is disappointing.
I would caution potential customers to exercise due diligence when considering purchases from this establishment. My experience suggests that their authentication process and customer service may not meet the standards one would expect when dealing with high-value, designer items, even in cases where the manufacturer's direct assessment has...
Read moreI rarely post reviews but I was so pleased to find this place yesterday after having a terrible experience at Jessica’s Consignment. This is a more modern, friendly, and busy location than Jessica’s, where buyers and sellers are treated well by the store staff, the items are good quality, and the store had a lot of shoppers eager to buy. I almost gave up on consignment until I found this place, and I’ll be going here more often! To recap for those who are looking to consign in Santa Barbara: Jessica’s new owner is rude to sellers, but has high end more dressy items for an older clientele, Crossroads will take anything, but the atmosphere is overwhelming and they will give you very little for nice items, and this place is the perfect in between, accepting nice items, but pricing it right, and the atmosphere is fun and positive. Save yourself the stress...
Read moreLove this place as a buyer and consigner! Somehow they've hit the perfect balance of providing great finds and bargains for buyers, but also a great return for consignors. Their employees are clearly very well-trained and knowledgeable.
I've resold/consigned all over and this is my favorite place to take my high end items that I'm ready to part with. They are super transparent and have a great online system where you can track everything (what things are priced at, what sells, when the consignment period is ending, etc.) Also, if you want your items back at any time, they will pick them for you at no charge!
The employees at this location are also so kind...
