We have come to this store each time weāve visited Santa Fe for years. We visited again two days ago. The merchandise is lovely but expensive. We have spent a lot of money in this store in the past. We went to the home store part. The old woman with thick black glasses appeared to be managing the store. There was a new girl who had helped us, but she looked to the manager to fix an unfortunate situation. We went to purchase three books we had found, and all three books had $20 price tags clearly listed on them. The books came up differently in the system. The old woman came over and apologized but said the books were incorrectly marked and then marked the price up by $10 per book. Every book we had contained a clearly shown price tag of $20, and all the books in the pile from which we selected the merchandise were the same. This woman claimed the store would lose money on the merchandise if she sold it at the marked price, which a ridiculous lie because all the books were marked in the same way so clearly this had been done intentionally in the past when the store had acquired the merchandise for sale at a lower price. Even if it was a mistake, she did not go over and pull the rest of the tags on the other books to change them immediately as we were leaving. This is no way to treat return paying customers, and it felt like she was intentionally marking up the store inventory to spite us. I hope it was worth the extra $20 we would have saved to receive this negative review for terrible treatment of customers (we put one of the books back and bought the other two on principle). That woman should be reprimanded, and I will not return to that store in the future unless they reach out with apology and compensation. Iād tell others not to go as well, which I very rarely would say.
UPDATE: I appreciate the quick and thoughtful response from the owner, but I still have not received any communication from the manager or anyone else about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is from a few years ago but after seeing some of the reviews, I felt complelled to voice my experience. I visited the store as a tourist and did not buy anything but later when I got home, I ordered a pair of shoes online and wanted/needed to exchange them. So I tried to work with the person who helped me while I was in the store but she could not help becasue it was an online purchase and I had to talk to the online people as if this was a huge compay and that person on the floor had no ability to connect with online team... and the exchange process and the fees they explained to me was so bad that I decided to keep the shoes that did not fit well and later gifted it to my friend. I asked for them to send me other styles and sizes and will happily pay for them and return the ones that don't fit but then they said every shoes has a restocking fee etc. and practically made the exchange experience impossbile. So poor customer service experience and I felt that they did not cater to me because I was not the type of cutomer they wanted perhaps or was not buying $10,000...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff at their corner store location were incredibly kind and helpful. The same cannot be said for their Workshop store next door. I was followed around the store from rack to rack with the saleswoman reading a novel about each designer of every item I touched which was extremely irritating and pushy. The price point is high, which is fine, but when I mentioned the item I liked was more than I wanted to spend, the saleswoman was very rude and condescending and showed me a random (ugly) item she thought would be a "better entry point for me." Overall a very high-pressure, unpleasant, and snobby experience. I live in New York but grew up here in New Mexico, my family owns a number of galleries in downtown Santa Fe. This saleswoman said she was also from Brooklyn and unfortunately, she brought a kind of gatekeep-y pretentious, gentrifying energy that doesn't belong in this area of kind, small business owners. I still love the store but would avoid while this...
