Hello I don't know where to start with my review as i have so much to say about Meryl and Tina who are the face to Designers Furniture.
It all started a few months ago when we had completed our living, den and dining area remodel and it was time to fill it up with furniture. I started perusing the web, visiting different furniture stores however I felt that it was going to be very difficult to put all the pieces together and visualize how it will end up. its not like you can bring home a couch and if it doesn't fit take it back and even if you could think of all the back and forth, time and energy wasted. one day i decided to make a wish to find someone who can design and pick the furniture for me. my wish came true when i found Designers Furniture. i called and booked an appt to visit Meryl and discuss our needs. From the moment we walked into their showroom in santa monica to the day i received my furniture it was the best experience! Merryl and Tina were sincere, passionate, and professionals. They’ve been in the business for a very long time and knew how to help us navigate the process of design and choosing furniture. The first step was for Meryl to visit our house and take the measurements and draw up a design. Next she started putting together the furniture based on our overall desires as well as input from her. Followed up with the fabrics and color schemes for each area. Throughout the whole process she kept us informed of the deliverables as well as where we were at any given time throughout the project. She bent over backwards to find the perfect combination of the furniture throughout the home. Meryl is passionate, smart, sincere, patient, and is great to work with. I would recommend Meryl and Tina for all your projects and can’t rave enough about them and the overall experience I had. I’m enjoying my home now filled with beautiful and durable furniture with a tasteful design. Thank you Meryl and Tina for all your help - couldn’t have done it...
Read moreI do not trust this store. I had to sue designers furniture in small claims court. I (foolishly) paid for a couch in full and up front with an agreement that delivery would be made the next day. Designers furniture delivered the wrong color couch. No big deal, mistakes happen. I called the store and I told them it was the wrong color couch. I was shocked when I was told to take it or leave it, no refunds. I refused to accept delivery and I asked for the couch I paid for. I was refused. I asked for a refund, again I was refused. I was out the cost of the couch, the delivery fee and the couch. After many calls to the store asking for my money, I had no choice but to take Designers furniture to small claims court. Designers furniture did not appear at the 1st or 2nd court hearing, ( the judge did NOT automaticly rule in my favor, but re-schuelled the hearing, TWICE! ) Eventually I won my case against designers furniture, but they refused to obey the court order to return my money. I did some reading and I learned that for a fee I could send a Califonia Sherifs officer to the store and the Sherif will enforce the court order. It took a year and a Sherif walking into this store, demanding payment to get my money back. Its on public record. Lesson learned, beware...
Read moreAggressive, unpleasant interaction with the owner.
I visited Designers Furniture Resource looking for a bedframe. Meryl mentioned her store did custom bed frames, and her colleague gave me a magazine to view them. I found one I liked and tried to take a photo of it to show my husband.
When Meryl saw me take out my phone, she promptly snatched the magazine out of my hand and started yelling at me.
I was so taken back by Meryl's unexplained flip from pleasant conversation to hostile yelling that I left immediately. It was one of the strangest experiences I've had with a grown adult.
Looking back at the interaction, I understand that small businesses sometimes have to upsell third-party items, which might create some sensitivity around the idea of customers taking photos. At the time, I was under the impression that I was looking a furniture magazine specifically for Meryl's store, not the third-party vendor, Dovetail, as it turned out to be.
I will not...
