Halflants + Pichette Architects — Local services in Sarasota

We wasted our money here. We stopped the process after their 5th drawing was a 2 bedroom house (with two kids, we need 3 bedrooms, kind of a non-negotiable), had a 60 foot long focal hallway from the front door that ended in at a washing machine (we had constant issues with the excessive length of the hallway), and we did not even have our own private master "wing" but it was attached to our one extra bedroom. There was no collaboration or shared vision of what we wanted in our house. We paid for phase I and requested a partial refund since we were unable to complete the process and settle on an acceptable floor plan design, and John refused to issue us a refund. We both work in customer service oriented industries, and this is mind-blowing to us, and these are only a few of our overall issues. We requested multiple design changes, but they were unwilling to change the outside shape of the house from the original design, which left them moving the rooms around like puzzle pieces to fit the space, instead of designing to our wants and needs. We had high hopes, as they are award winning architects, and they were friendly, nice people, but after talking with other large and small architecture firms in Sarasota, we regret not going elsewhere because of the potential for a better partnership and shared vision. We lost a lot of money and wasted a lot of time in the failed...

The discussion I had with John Pichette went something along the lines of, they, "as a team, go to each property to study the dynamics of the property: the sunlight, the shadows, the trees.....all the surrounding elements, and how the property breathes." With this in mind and while looking through their book, I could see the intricacies of which John was speaking. Each design came to life and my appreciation of modern architecture is vastly different and deeper than seeing... "just a white box."

Working with Halflants + Pichette, I would beg to say, there are not two more tenacious and creative architects in the Sarasota area. They want your project. They want it to be more than just great. They want it to be exceptional. They want it breathtakingly beautiful...just as you do, too. And, it will be.
