I visited Savannah 8/19 thru 8/22. I had a sweet-tooth as I scanned the River walk when all of a sudden I spotted Byrd’s Famous Cookies! It’s definitely historical! Since 1924 Byrds have been baking assorted cookies! They even have a “cookie sample “ section in the back. So you can try a cookie or two before you purchase to see if it’s to your liking! They sell cookie cans, bags of cookies, you can even create a bag and make your own cookie bag! Service was outstanding! One employee shared with me the history of the store! I visited Byrd's Famous Cookies on River Street after a recommendation to try their oatmeal cookies. I expected large, plump cookies and was surprised to find small, crunchy ones instead. While this was a bit disappointing due to my preference for softer cookies, it's purely a matter of taste. Despite this, the visit was delightful. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, sharing interesting stories about the cookies (same Oatmeal recipe for over 99 years) and their history. One cannot stroll down River Street without dropping in to sample some of these amazing cookies. While vacationing in Savannah, I made sure a visit to Byrd's was checked off my to-do list. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. There was no shortage in cookies to sample. I brought back the Georgia Peach and Triple Chocolate, and while both received rave reviews, my colleagues at the office could not stop eating or talking about the former.
