This was the worst waste of time and money in my life. There was nothing fun about it. You are placed at a table of strangers, and told to chat. Well, the people at our table didnât feel like chatting. Everyone just sat there quiet. You have this a long list of questions youâre supposed to ask each other, but the questions have nothing to do with any sort of a mystery. Nothing was mysterious about it. It was absolutely stupid and very boring. The only reason there are any positive reviews anywhere online is because if you write one while you were there and show it to them, they give you a âfreeâ shot glass. I canât tell you how many people were so excited just to get a free stupid shot glass, which they already over paid for! The dinner was atrocious. Absolutely disgusting. They call it an amazing four course meal. Well, there were three, and they were all disgusting. Even the iced tea was disgusting. There were two people there from Georgia and they said it was the worst tea they had ever tasted in their lives, and none of us even drank it. It wasnât that it was unsweetened, it was just disgusting. I donât know what they made it out of, but it was not tea. They want you to buy alcohol, that makes them even more money. We got the chicken. It was inedible. It just tasted like black pepper. Like you were licking the pepper shaker. It was so disgusting. To make matters worse, it came out an hour after all the other meals. So at first the people who got fish or vegetarian were just sitting there politely trying to wait, but we told them go ahead, eat it while itâs warm. It was literally one hour later when we got the chicken. There was a woman at her table who was diabetic, and our meals came 15 minutes before the end of the event. I wonât even call it a show, because it certainly was not one. She was literally collapsing into her lap - I sought help several times and asked could she please get her meal before anyone else; they were completely unsympathetic and did not help her. I didnât even know this lady, but it was very sad and unacceptable. I had paid extra money for my friend to be part of the show. Basically being part of the show just meant that they came over and talked to her and said âyouâre a person of interest.â She just stood there looking uncomfortable, and that was the end of it. She was not involved in any way. It was such a boring stupid âshowâ that really only had two âactors.â Please please please do not waste your money on this horrible, horrible scam! Oh, and by the way, the vegetarian meal was just a pile of side vegetables like green beans. It was nothing like an actual meal, like eggplant parmesan, vegetable lasagna or vegetarian chili. It was just steamed vegetables. Everything was so disgusting. Even the dessert was disgusting. And there was no fourth course. Everything was absolutely inedible. I left the room about a half an hour before it was over, since I still had not received my meal, and tried to get something at the hotel bar. The bartender was very sympathetic. He had no food, and sent me over to a little shop where I bought a granola bar. He came and found me there and he stuffed three bags of peanuts into my purse and he said, âDonât tell anyone, Iâm really sorry, I know...
Read moreEdit in response to the reply below: I, like most people, only feel compelled to leave reviews when an experience is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. In this case it was the latter. At the time of writing this, I have 7 reviews of which three are 1-star and four are 5-star. So the majority of my reviews are in fact, 5-stars.
Original review: I wish I had spent the $60+ on a nice dinner instead of doing this. The food was absolutely disgusting and the portions were incredibly meager. I had ordered the vegetarian entree and what I got was not what was listed on the menu (I ended up with a pile of steamed veggies on some rice). The food was also conspicuously changing throughout the night, as some of the later entrees were served with mashed potatoes instead of rice. The dessert was inedible. Oh, and while this is advertised as a âfour course meal,â it is not. You get a tiny salad, a tiny entree, and a disgusting dessert. The food was also extremely slow (the entrees were still being served well past 8pm), and the service was little to nonexistent. Our table had to be asked five times which entrees we were supposed to be served, yet we were all given colored tickets corresponding to which meal we ordered. The atmosphere was loud and chaotic. The actors were literally screaming the entire time. The story was incoherent and the murderer came down to a contrived movie reference. There was no point in meticulously piecing the clues together as the clues were mostly irrelevant in the end. The worst part, however, was that they coerce people into giving them five star reviews with a free shot glass. Such a practice is obscenely unethical and...
Read moreWe had a group of 5 couples buy Groupon deal for the Savannah show. I asked ahead and found of it's 10 people per table so I rounded up enough friends to make a table full. We all thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was engaging and pretty intense to figure out and put all the clues together. I had expected dinner to be acceptable and the focus be the show but we all loved the food. It was exceptional. Salmon was cooked perfectly, rice was fluffy and moist, and veggies were tasty and not overdone. Also, they plated the food nicely with a little decorative flair and it felt high end. Dessert was scrumptious too. We enjoyed mingling with other guests here and there trying to see who was "suspicious". I'd definitely recommend this as a fun night out for friends or family. With a party of 2 you could have a nice time but I think having a a small group of friends took it to the next level of fun. We will be planning to do this again. The Holiday Inn downtown was nice location. We found free parking nearby. The ballroom where it was held was nice and comfy and the staff were great. The only thing that could improve was in occasion the noise level of tables talking while actors were performing was annoying. I had to listen hard so as not to miss a clue. This, however, was just a minor complaint and I'd give Dinner Detective 5 stars and can't...
