Arrived at KSDL just before 6:00am on April 3rd 2016 for instruction of a newly acquired aircraft. After completion of pre-flight inspection and flight planning it was discovered a GPU would be needed to provide necessary electric power to start the aircraft. I requested a GPU at the front desk of Landmark aviation and returned to the aircraft. Within 15 minutes a representative arrived with a large fuel powered GPU. I advised the lineman the aircraft had a 12v electric system which he confirmed. The jump cord was plugged into the aircraft. I looked at the GPU voltage indicator and was concerned the proper voltage was selected. I told the lineman again it was a 12v system, the lineman replied he was going to power the GPU back due to the 12v system. The GPU throttle was powered back and not the output voltage and the system was activated resulting in an overcharge. The battery exploded discharging acid over the aircraft. The lineman said he didn't know how to operate the GPU. Tuesday April 4th I was contacted by Landmark and told the Aircraft would be completed, detailed and ready to go April 5th. I stopped by to view and the damage keeps getting worse. It is now April 12th,...
Read moreIf you think their customer service is bad it’s because they pay them nothing. I have been in Aviation Oil and Gas both Federally and locally for over 12 years now. They want you as the ground guide to do 3-5 different jobs for 18-20$ if you’re lucky.
Not only do they want you out there in over 110 degree weather for 8 hours straight, they want you ON CALL. Not to mention you cant survive off 20$ anywhere near scottsdale so you have to commute in traffic every….. single….. day…… for not even a 20$……
They want you to guide the bird in, de-board the bird and passengers. Provide exemplary customer service with their luggage. Hook up the GPU to power the unit, bring out the poop truck to clean all that up. Now to top it all off they want you to also be a janitor inside the terminal. No wonder they have so many negative reviews in regard to wait time…… BECAUSE THEY GOT ONE GUY DOING EVERYTHING FOR MINIMUM WAGE!
All for 18$ an hour, because you know they’re going to be stingy for those extra 2$ since they’re already trying to milk all that work out of...
Read moreEdit: Good service, nice staff, beautiful facility. Delicious Lattes! Fuel price is stratospheric (and airport has a security fee, too) so you’ll pay a lot, but good facility, nice people, doing their best… previously I had to take a star away, even though the ramp crew seem like serious professionals, I don’t think they can always handle customer needs reliably at peak times. Not sure if the issue is on the ramp side or at the desk but requests sometimes get ignored (or communication can be fumbled)… It’s my go-to spot at SDL for our plane, so I hope staffing stays high to tighten up the operation. In fairness, holiday and event demand goes through the roof, so it will be interesting to watch. Happy to be returning with an extra (fifth) star in...
