While vacationing in the Scottsdale area. I visited the many shops in Old Town, one being Cactus Carlos (Scottsdale). I was looking for a child’s Arizona hat for my Grandson. I approached an employee to ask if they had any. She was an older lady with gray shoulder length hair. She came a-crossed very uppity. To make a long store short, this store employee was as rude as they come. I ask her twice where the kids hats were. All she could do was point and say over there. I continued to the area she was pointing to without success. She was heading in the same direction to return a t shirt back to a table, knowing I was still on the hunt with her “figure pointing directions”. I turn around discussed to leave. There was another lady behind the counter. I stop to tell her what had happened, since I was pretty surprised at the situation. This one didn’t necessarily stand out, nor did I expect it to. It was exactly what I expected - Overpriced, worthless trinkets. Widgets of no value that create and present nostalgia of a trip once experienced in an unfamiliar place.
It’s the people that matter, in most settings. And what set this setting aside, was the friendly staff person. It’s not hard to be nice and friendly and pleasant, yet it’s rarely experienced, sadly, these days.
