A blend of a College Dorm and Hostile made to mimic a hotel. Poorly designed rooms, limited visibility from windows due to the shape of the hotel. Poorly thought out window coverings due to either black out or wide open which doesn’t allow for ANY privacy due to how you gave other rooms or the adjacent high rise condos. Major major repairs and upgrades are needed throughout due to extremely high traffic of mostly 20 something’s looking for a cheap hotel in prime location. Basically it’s has the bare bones necessities and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MORE. No clock, barely any outlets, no pen, paper and 1 bar of soap that last about 3 hand washes. Bathroom floors were painted in some type of garage floor epoxy and so was the shower. Carpet in the room was extremely dirty to the point I bought some sandals to wear while in the room and also used them as shower shoes. Shower floor has probably been painted so much it has diverted the water opposite the drain causing water to sit in the shower if not moved towards the drain. This issue has been going on a while because they was a major mildew stain in the shower. (see pictures) The sink drained extremely slow, toilet was all scratched up, toilet seat was broken and moved when sitting on it, there was 2 towels both of which had stains and the shower didn’t even have a door or curtain. Unique design glass enclosure only covered half the shower so when showering, the water would splash out into the floor area of the bathroom causing an extremely wet shower mat when you get out. Went through 2 towels a day just to stand on something my feet didn’t squash through even when wearing my newly bought shower shoes.. I mean when is the last time you wore shower shoes at a hotel? Bedding was stained, mattress was deformed making you sink into the 1 side everybody used. The walls had patches all over where holes were fixed but were never sanded or painted over you know to make it look like it never happened. Back to that bare bones thing again, there was very limited light in the room, 1 lamp and some small button on the side of the headboard that have you a little more. Light became pretty important since remember I can’t open the window without somebody in the hallways staring right at me in bed! The desk was about big enough for a 3rd grader and the desk chair was almost like sitting on a concrete park bench. Now the AC was one of those wall huge units in the room that make all kinds of noise and either freeze you out or do nothing… Yeah this one did just that but I often chose to blast it since the extreme noise muffled the drunk idiots next door who partied all day, all night and then some in the entertainment district. You could hear music 24hrs a day 5-6 days a week, crotch rockets and super cars revving their engines near the area daily. Breakfast was a joke and was more like the 7-11 heat up sandwiches that sit there for hours, the service there was even worse! Not sure the few guys who stood at the front even worked there honestly because they were absolutely clueless. If you needed service from the maids, you better speak fluent Spanish because they spoke zero English. Asking for towels or another roll of butt wipe was a chore so since I was staying there for a few weeks, a trip to Target was a bit easier. Ended up buying some things like a couple decent towels so I could use the hotel towels to soak up the water on the floor, I bought my own sheets, toilet paper, Lysol spray, a candle, a different lamp/light, some paper and pens so I could actually do some work on this work trip! For those who are wondering why I didn’t move, the Phoenix area is overcome with Spring Breakers, Snow Birds, Spring Training Fans so booking a room last minute was have been $4-500 a night which isn’t in our travel budget. Needless to say that will be my last trip to this Aloft property and probably to an Aloft in general. It was pretty awful to say the least but I did want to mention the front desk staff and manager who did all they could to provide what they had available. I’m 100% sure I wasn’t the only one with questions but they always had a smile and were willing to...
Read moreBE AWARE of the dis-respectful/unhelpful/inconsiderate general manager Luis G at this hotel and their deceptive business practices! My friend, her dog, and I stayed at Aloft Scottsdale for a weekend. We chose this hotel because it said it was "pet friendly".
Upon check-in, the front desk person should have made it very clearly known to me that I would be responsible for other guests' room charges if there was a disturbance from the pet that caused other guests to complain, but this was not stated to me upon check-in ... nor was it explicitly and clearly stated in their pet agreement policy that I signed.
The pet agreement policy did not explicitly and clearly state that I would be charged to cover the other guests' room charges for any “inconvenience” caused by pet issues. If that was clearly stated in the pet agreement, then we would have either not stayed at Aloft or would have not brought the dog, thus avoiding any pet issues altogether.
The pet agreement needs to explicitly and clearly state what constitutes "damages" caused by a pet, and clearly and explicitly state what the hotel guest is actually responsible for in regard to those “damages” in relation to having a pet in the room and disturbances/issues caused by the pet. The pet agreement did not clearly or explicitly state any of that, so how can a guest be held accountable for something that is vaguely defined and not explicitly and clearly stated. This is unfair because any hotel employee could make up a story about how a dog was disturbing the peace and causing “damages” in order to unfairly charge a guest more for their stay when their dog and the guest did not actually do anything wrong.
Upon checkout the next day (which means we were allowed to stay and not kicked out for pet disturbances), the front-desk person did not go over my final bill with me during check-out to go over the charges. I came to find out after I had left the hotel that I was charged additional expenses to cover the room costs of the guests that were inconvenienced by the pet barking.
I asked Luis (GM of Aloft Scottsdale) multiple times to provide audio/video recordings of the dog causing “damages” in order to prove and corroborate his employee's story of the dog causing a disturbance. I never received any evidence from Luis and Aloft/Marriott proving that the dog did in fact cause “damages” that warranted additional room charges being charged to my bill.
I provided evidence to show that the pet agreement never stated anywhere in the policy that I would have to pay for the other guests' room charges. I asked Luis to resolve this issue since Aloft/Marriott was clearly in the wrong in that I should have never been charged those additional costs. Luis would not help or even admit that their pet agreement policy was faulty and lacking in enforceability. I asked Luis to provide his supervisor's contact information so that I could escalate this issue. Luis never provided that information to me. I had to contact Marriott corporate to resolve this issue, and not even Marriott corporate was helpful in resolving the issue. Not only did Marriott corporate fail to respond to my emails after they said they would look into the matter and respond to me, but their Corporate Office of Consumer Affairs was not even willing to help escalate and resolve the matter.
Overall, Aloft Scottsdale and Marriott corporate were horrible in providing even base-level customer service to resolve this issue that I was completely in the right on and Aloft was completely in the wrong on. Terrible customer service from Luis and Marriott's Corporate Office of Consumer Affairs. They should be held accountable by the Better Business Bureau for their lack of customer service as well as deceptive...
Read moreThe balcony saved my experience at this hotel. Having some where safely to sit late at night and enjoy the weather alone while my husband sleep was the bomb. I've stayed at hotels and it was too late and dark to be outside alone so this balcony gave me the perfect enjoyable space. We got to the hotel and the desk clerk was not as pleasant a person i would have like to encounter once I get to my hotel room after a long day of travel. Not sure of her name but she had red hair, she was not handling being what she said she was the night manager very well. We are checking in and she is having problems using the equipment to charge my card for the room. Granted there was a card on file that I booked with but never intended to pay for the room with so i was using a different card. The machine was not accepting my card and the clerk had no solution as to how I would pay and to be honest ahe made me feel like she could care less if i got the room or not. I asked if she could call some one for help and she said no. I asked if she could switch to the othe machine and she said it didnt work and thats why she was on the other machine. I was getting frustrated because i know my card work because i had just used it at several stores before getting to hotel. Finally after swiping my card 12 times on the machine she finally turned on the other machine and swiped my card and it work immediately. She turns and says oh look it worked, then she apologized that she was having a bad day and she sorry for the inconvenience but minutes ago she gave no care about me and my husband. We get keys and head to room, once in room it had this funny smell in it almost like piss and we had to open balcony door for air. Now that we are in room we discover there is no microwave in our suite. NO MICROWAVE IN OUR SUITE!!!!!! oooh we that blew my brain UP. I called front desk and same red haired woman dryly said no the microwave is down here when i inquired about one not being in my suite. The couch in our suite was visibly dirty and i cringed when i seen it and i definitely did not sit on it nor put any of my items on it. Now one might ask why didnt you complain or ask for a new room. 🤔 because I had a hard time paying for this one and the clerk was not very helpful so I truly didnt think I would get any help if I was to complain about the room they gave us with no where else to go. The house keeping staff was very friendly and respectful so that was a plus. Again the balcony saved the entire room experience for me. Will I rent here again??? In another state maybe yes ONLY if they have a...
