In June of 2016, I was referred by my local doctors to Dr. Wei for cosmetic surgery to correct an abdominal scar I sustained in infancy. I had no prior knowledge about Dr. Wei, and was highly impressed by her staff’s professionalism, office cleanliness, and the punctuality of my appointment. Dr. Wei is a very personable individual. She takes her time getting to know her patients, assessing their wants and needs, and finding a realistic way to help them. I had been referred to Dr. Wei and she was spoken of so highly that I wanted to give her a chance. Unfortunately, I was refused a consultation because of past cancellations over a year ago, which only happened because I had lost my insurance at the time. My situation and coverage have since changed drastically, and I was disappointed that I wasn't even given the opportunity to explain this. To deny me outright without hearing me out felt unprofessional and discouraging. Choosing a surgeon for such a personal, life-changing procedure is already difficult — why make it harder on women who are simply seeking care? I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Wei. I am a cancer patient who had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction with breast implants under the pectoral muscle. During my two years with the implants I experienced a lot of pain and decrease strength in my pectoral muscles.
