Piedmont Cafe is a completely lovely and relaxing environment to enjoy a cup of coffee, sip on tea, and have a small snack.

Let’s talk accessibility for a moment: there are no stairs at the entry, the doorway is wide, furniture is well spaced. There is a variety of seating - couches, armchairs, sturdy tables with moveable chairs. There are two all-gender single occupancy restrooms, the one on the west side (to your right as you are facing the back wall of the restroom hall) is ADA compliant with plenty of room to maneuver, and handrails.

Essential info: Hours have recently been updated as of late April 2025 (open later than before). Metered on-street parking (meters not enforced on Sundays/holidays). Located on the ground floor of Tuscany Apartments, an older historic building. The area has many apartment buildings, sidewalks are in good repair and it feels very safe to walk in the area. Cafe WiFi available. They accept cards, cash, Apple Pay, G Pay.

Atmosphere: Beautifully maintained wooden tables, assorted seating options, greenery. Nice dishware. Spacious. Tables are placed far enough apart for you to have a conversation without annoying other patrons. Immaculately clean. Friendly staff. They actually care whether you are happy. There is background music which is well modulated, not overbearing.

I had two different pots of tea, a sausage roll and a spicy chicken roll. Tea is available in the standard basic varieties. See their menu for more info on other beverages. I noticed iced tea and Italian sodas along with Mexican soda, coffee drinks, lattes, chai and hot chocolate. The sausage and chicken rolls came with their own thick dipping sauces which were very good. The spicy was spicy! I went late in the day so not sure if there are pastries/more snack options in the morning. EDIT: I’ve gone back this morning to investigate the pastry options. They have a very nice, thoughtful selection of quality baked goods, so I have increased the star rating for food. Shortly after my arrival, a line was forming, which is a good sign. Service was kind and efficient, so the line kept moving at a quick pace. We noticed one of the owners inspecting the dishware before sending it out to the patrons. This is a great local business to support.

Went in today for a short visit as I saw this newly added on google maps. The person at the counter was very kind and I assume was the business owner. I got a 12oz hot vanilla latte, and a 16oz iced vanilla latte. I personally think the iced vanilla latte is one of the better latte's available in the area. I have tried most of the coffee shops around capitol hill and this is my 2nd favorite iced vanilla latte I have had. I think the hot was average. The flavor of the coffee in the hot latte wasn't coming through as much as the iced one, but that is usually how I feel about hot latte's. My girlfriend thought the iced was better too.

I live a couple blocks away from here so this is almost the closest coffee shop to me. I will certainly be going back for iced lattes. I think the atmosphere of this shop was really nice inside. It didn't feel like Seattle, in a good way. They weren't too busy when I went and the person working brought my to-go drinks out to me, which was nice.

Good stuff overall, hopefully this spot stays this way. I know sometimes businesses can open strong and fall off, but I am hopeful that this place does well and keeps up this quality of coffee...
