I am Native American and support indigenous owned companies as much as possible. With that said we use ALOT of wool blankets in our ceremonies for various reasons, this time it’s for a giveaway for my brother whom I lost to murder in 2021, I did not disclose that but they were more than willing to provide me a discount since I purchased 7 blankets. Each blanket arrived packaged very nicely, the blankets themselves are so soft and not itchy or scratchy like some other wool blankets can be. The designs are next level as they use all indigenous artists which I love! The customer service was superb with helping me with this order. I must say this, I am very very happy to see am indigenous owned company make such blankets as their are so many non-indigenous owned companies who use our designs and don’t understand what it is their making and they capitalize on them, tough to see. This is soooo refreshing. The only downside I would like to see changed is the packaging, I got styrofoam popcorn and am unsure if all of the cardboard is recyclable, so sustainable packaging when you can would give this 5+ stars. I looooove this company, their work speaks to me, I will definitely be a...
Read moreNATIVES BEWARE. Went here because im native and have been wanting to buy some blankets and socks. This place isnt for natives. Its for upper class nonindigenous people. The lady looked at me like she was concerned i was going to grab everything and run out the door. Even followed me around the tiny little store. They didnt have the one blanket i wanted which apparently is stored at a warehouse and not the actual store. Also, these products arent made by natives. Only designed by natives. Reminds me of that shop from the tv show yellowstone. The one where the shop keeper was all decked out in turquoise like a navajo and then framed kayces wife, the flip flopper, and called the cops. Then the cops strip searched her until Beth dutton came along and Bethed the place. So, if you are native and 847 miles from home like i was, you will be treated like you are a thief until you pay and then walk out the door. Looked real nice though. Like a sterile exhibit of what we used to be and a reminder that we dont belong here. Also, parking sucks. Had to pay...
Read moreEighth Generation is my favorite space to shop in Seattle! Every product I have from them is of the highest quality and every time I come in the service is wonderful. When friends visit me from out of town I always bring them here on my "tour" of Seattle.
We bought a wool blanket as part of a land acknowledgment for our wedding. The mountain top was about 30 degrees F and the blanket kept me so warm! Now the blanket is a momento from our day. It’s been almost 3 years and the blanket is still soft, bright and no pilling or snags even with regular use. We’ve also purchased 4 stockings made from blanket scraps which are beautiful and resourceful.
My coworkers often ask about the beautiful enamel pin I wear on my lanyard while teaching. My favorite part about this business is the opportunity to support Native artists rather than art that has been appropriated. I feel confident that every sale will directly benefit Indigenous business people rather than others profiting off of Native arts. Can't recommend this...
