Pasta Casalinga embodies the essence of rustic Italian cuisine, passed down through generations. Their concise menu offers a delightful selection: farm-fresh, ocean-inspired, or garden-infused dishes.
From the Ocean 🌊: We had the pleasure of trying the salmon pasta, and it was a culinary triumph! The combination of Creste di Gallo pasta with perfectly cooked Sockeye Salmon, tangy marinated artichokes, and crispy fried capers creates a symphony of flavors that delights the palate. Each ingredient is thoughtfully selected and expertly prepared, resulting in a dish that truly embodies the essence of ocean-inspired cuisine.
From the Graden 🌾: The spaghetti alla Chithra, dressed in a flavorful combination of garlic and chili oil, offers a taste of the garden in every bite. The simplicity of the dish allows the fresh ingredients to shine, with the garlic adding a bold punch of flavor and the chili oil providing a subtle kick of heat. It’s perfect for those seeking a lighter, yet satisfying, pasta dish. However, there's room for improvement in enhancing the overall flavor profile.
Ambiance: Nestled away from the bustling Pike Street markets, Pasta Casalinga exudes a cozy charm. The ambiance is rustic and inviting, providing the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal.
Seating: Seating may be limited, so arriving before lunchtime is recommended. We went on a weekday afternoon for brunch so seating wasn’t an issue.
You also have the option to take your food and enjoy it at the public seating area in front of the waterfront, offering beautiful views of the Big Wheel, Mount Rainier on a clear day, cruise ships, and feel of the the refreshing sea breeze. There are picnic tables available, making it a perfect spot to relax and savor your meal.
Service: The service is efficient and friendly, enhancing the dining experience.
Overall Impression: Finding handmade pasta, cooked al dente, is a rare gem, and Pasta Casalinga delivers just that! The noodles are delicately coated in sauce, allowing each bite to shine. 🍝👌

Read moreUnbelievable food. This place is a hidden treasure that I hope for my sake doesn't get discovered by the masses, but absolutely deserves any and all praise it is given, and then some. Freshly made pasta with delicious sauce, good prices, great little spot in a good location. What more could you ask for?
Edit: I ordered the Pomodoro, which was the vegetarian option of the day. Made with tomato sauce, gigli pasta, parmesan, and basil. I opted to add burrata and pepper infused oil. The dish was PERFECT. The sauce was light and flavorful - sweet and acidic, with a wonderful consistency that seemed to start out the slightest bit watery and then dry out to perfection after plating. The burrata was great and added an extra layer to the whole situation. The pepper oil wasn't what I was used to, with the likes of Via Tribunali's pepper oil - dried red pepper flakes infused into olive oil. This was, I presume, a house infusion of chopped fresh peppers (not entirely certain, but reminded me of goat horn peppers) that had been soaked in the oil. Super flavorful, and by far more peppers than oil, all with a little less overall spiciness than the aforementioned Via Trib pepper oil. The pasta was supreme - the frilled edges picked up the sauce wonderfully, and the texture was JUST on the al dente side of the spectrum. All in all, a supreme example of Italian cooking. It really lifted my spirits after the news-and-subsequent-closing of Perche No / Mangia Me food truck. A new instant favorite.
Also, the staff was courteous and polite, and worked very hard to get the dishes out quickly and efficiently! For such a small place and such high quality, it's an amazing feat of production. Much appreciated, Pasta...
Read moreNot sure why this place was rated so highly, maybe because it’s a tourist destination? Waited for it to open at 11am and line formed fast, me and my husband were really excited to try due to the high ratings and how no-frills the place looked.
tl;dr: Food-wise it’s a 2/5 but for being in a touristy location I’ll give it a 3/5. Perfect if you’re here for instagram pasta photos only. 不好吃,没味道
I ordered the “From the Ocean” and unfortunately it was not delicious, it wasn’t even acceptable for pasta to be completely honest.
Pros: presentation was BEAUTIFUL, food came so fast, it’s one of the more comfy corners to sit and eat at in Pike’s Market, no problems with the service (although they weren’t exactly friendly either - there were add-on options but the lady didn’t even ask, utensils/water is self-serve)
Cons: extremely bland pasta - my husband lived in Italy for 6 years and he took one bite and shut up because he didn’t want to ruin my eating experience by complaining lol. I don’t require much on my pastas but this pasta didn’t have herbs, salt, garlic, butter, cream, sauce, cheese, or ANYTHING except oil and capers. The picture looks like there’s sufficient seafood but do not be fooled I counted 2 clams that went into my mouth, rest are empty shells. I couldn’t even finish my pasta before tossing it :( And I tried really hard! Maybe just got unlucky with the menu this week? Alas I will not be back to try...
