I'll never step foot in this store ever again. There was a time when Mario's was staffed by incredibly pretentious, unhelpful staff. That all changed when Mitchell Stores bought Marios in 2015. Since then, I've bought dozens of things from Mario's and up until recently, my experiences were generally good. Sadly, the store has really done a u-turn back to the old days. Recently, I stopped by the store to purchase a pair of designer sneakers. I stood around by the shoes for 15 minutes trying to catch the attention of a sales person. I knew my size, and what color I wanted to buy. I was ready to go - but no one even bothered to acknowledge my presence, much less ask me if I needed help. I proceeded upstairs to the women's department and asked for help up there, and they were happy to sell me my $500 sneakers. Fast forward three weeks, I opened the box to wear them for the first time and saw that they had a serious defect (a tear in the leather). I called the store and asked if they could replace them with a new pair and they agreed. The replacement pair was ordered from their San Francisco store and arrived a couple of days later. I went in to exchange my defective sneakers for new ones, and Bernardo refused to hand them over. He literally said "Marios cannot be held liable for this", and rudely told me to take them to a cobbler. Sadly, the shoes cannot be repaired (per the cobbler I took them to), and I'm stuck with a pair of $500 sneakers that I cant even wear. When these guys go out of business, I won't feel...
Read moreMy experience couldn't get any better.
Me and my 3 other friends are all colored UW students, we needed to get a suit for one of our friends as he had a scholarship ceremony that he needed to attended. The whole day we went to Westlake shopping for him, gaining sideway looks and getting absolutely no help from any associates. They thought we were only there to steal or look around, not seriously buy (not knowing we had about $3k to spend on a suit). We were very ticked off, literally all the places did the same thing (Macy's, Nordstrom, etc) so Mario's was our final hope.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted. We got help from a Bosnian lady, who was so incredibly nice. She was so helpful and found a perfect suit for Jamal, for only about $200! She was very friendly and chatty. The entire staff was lovely, they all literally came to us and spoke to us about our story and what not. I am not kidding when I tell you we met the entire store. They were all incredibly nice and told us stories, they weren't doing it for any reason apart from genuinely being good people. The suit is very dapper and Jamal loves it, and the customer service is something I've never seen before. Recommend this store...
Read moreMoved from Chicago a couple of years ago and really missed the upscale retail experience. Nordstrom is nice, but the service is too impersonal, and there is too much turnover with stylists from my experience. So for a while, I was just ordering nearly everything from Bergdorf (but returns can be pretty slow).
Excited to shop more at Marios in the future after three visits! (Once I lose a bit more of that COVID weight.) Love the curation. Staff interactions have been very positive. Really appreciate being able to Reserve to try on and pick-up in store, which I've used extensively before with another upmarket retailer. So helpful on a busy schedule or if you get overwhelmed by so...
