Yesterday I entered the store with great anticipation to finish a small project, and after utilizing the self service printing feature, I walked out highly disappointed over something that was less than $.25. What I needed was a single spiral binding, which apparently is not sold “over the counter.” Although I physically saw the product at the print desk, I was told it was only available if I paid $5 in binding services (which I did not need), but if I chose to move forward with that option, I’d have to “wait in line” (which I understand), but it meant I would not be able to have my finished product in the timeframe I had anticipated, all because of a store policy that prevents me from getting what I need. Now instead of feeling joy over something I spent most of my day working on, my only option (that I am aware of) is to buy a package of 50 on Amazon, and wait days for delivery. I was prepared to purchase a box of 20 for $10+, but $5 for a single binding comb seems a little excessive for something, I imagine, costs the store less than $.25. As a trained progressional in Customer Service I am taught to do the right thing. This definitely did not feel like the...
Read moreLindsey was working she seemed like she didn’t want to be bothered or didn’t like her job. Just the vibe she gave off. Another customer was ahead of me and she asked me what I was waiting for. I said I emailed them to print something, and she asked me did you get a notification that it was done? I said no I did not. She told me she was going to help the other customer, then she’ll be right with me. I said okay she took a long looking for his printing order it was ten minutes later she wraps up with the other customer. She looks at me and points to a sign and said our printing services are closed, you can use the self serve. I would have appreciated you telling me that 10 minutes ago. I go to use the “self serve” printers it’s printing blank copies. I told her my total charge at the time was $2.00 something, and I asked her for her assistance. She said she was going to refund half then I see now she charged me $5.00 I didn’t even get the copies made at all I had to leave. Don’t run out of your printer ink or go Walmart or something. OfficeMax lazy Rude Lindsey in south Jordan, not helpful and charged more instead of refunding me. Annoying...
Read moreIt seems rare these days to receive what one would term "Exceptional Service" as large companies focus more on the bottom line rather than customer satisfaction. While I cannot say what the corporate culture at Office Max is, I can say that last night I received exceptional service from Ari.
Ari is an excellent representation of customer service, she accommodated my needs right at closing time and even a little bit after, going out of her way to help me. She never once looked annoyed or made me feel unwelcome or hurried, it was a great experience. Then after checking out I saw her and another employee scrambling to help another customer who showed up a few minutes after close to pick up an order as well. Great work.
I have never worked retail but in college I did serve tables for a couple of years. I understand how frustrating it is to have people walk in right at close and expect service, so I try to avoid being "that guy". As such I want to thank Office Max for having thoughtful and empathetic...
