I had high expectations but was disappointed. I've been to Blue Fish before they changed to ayce and tried their salmon sashimi. It was super fresh, and I was so impressed by it. I was even gonna bring my dad, who LOVES sashimi, to try this place. However, their fish quality for ayce is not as good as before. I most looked forward to trying the carpaccio, but I did not enjoy them as much as I thought I would. I felt like since it included sauce and other toppings, they used fish of lower quality because that can be covered by the other flavors. The few items I thought of high quality were the uni and amaebi. I also enjoyed the Monkey Brain (mushroom with some meat), Squid Salad, and Honey Mango Shrimp. The teriyaki salmon was very dry, and they didn't do a good job of frying the skin. The breading of the calamari was too thick.
I also felt there were too many limitations even when we were paying a lot more for the premium option. Of the premium items, more than half of them can be ordered only once, and we're talking about ONE piece of nigiri only, not even two. They also limit the number of rounds you can order the premium options to three, which was really unnecessary because most items can be ordered once anyway. But at first it made me kinda stressed to have to make sure I got what I wanted within the three rounds. What I also didn't enjoy about this experience was that there was a large amount of nigiri with a lot of rice. I wish there were some sashimi options other than the carpaccio. I saw on the menu that there was a "Blue Fish Signature Sashimi Plate (Extra Order) $12." I thought it meant the first plate is included in the ayce, and any extra orders would cost $12; turned out it's not part of the ayce. They should change how the menu is formatted so that it's not confusing. I understood how drinks would cost extra, but didn't understand why they needed to put the sashimi price in green. Moreover, I was shocked when they told me I could only get one mochi ice cream. They already only had two options for desserts and the banana tempura one didn't look very appealing. I love desserts and wanted to try different flavors, but I was sad I couldn't. Those items aren't that expensive anyway. And what was upsetting to me was nowhere on the menu did it say we could only order it once, and they didn't mention that at the start either. I prefer the kinda of ayce where most things are laid out and you can choose the portion you want and don't have to wait for the server to serve you. I think it'll help them during busy times, too.
Service was good. The server was friendly and patient in explaining how the ayce works. The place is clean. Considering my experience, I didn't think it was worth $36 (excluding tax and tips). I really hope I can eat the high-quality salmon I got the first time here again. I don't think it's possible though, and I probably...

Jenny, the server lady was friendly, efficient and pleasant. She took our orders, and our dishes came in a short time. We went there after 12:00pm, the restaurant was busy. Every table was almost occupied.
Mad Shrimp sushi was excellent, the heat was no joke, the menu did warn guests ahead, it was tasty but be ready for a fire inferno in your mouth and have that glass of water ready. And the waitress did pointed out it's hot and if I wanted to still go through with the order and I did. I appreciate the waitress pointing it out; sometimes, guests may not have picked up on the spicy side that it's full of heat (top sauce).
She was pleasant and cordial the entire time. We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed our meals. The vibes are relaxing, cozy, and a pleasant atmosphere.
Everything was excellent and fresh. Attentive service. Deserts were on par, mochi ice cream was very good with fresh mochi chewy soft textures. The fried banana ice cream was also delicious.

Blue Fish is our favorite sushi restaurant. Will circle back.
2022 - 2024: The young guy at front counter took our foreheads temp due to covid, promptly seated us.
Delicious food, great customer service, the lady was pleasant, attentive, prompt; food arrived in superb presentations, fresh as shown on attached pics (from sushi's to soba noodles), clean facility, nice atmosphere and pleasant setting. Soba noodles is super tasty, fresh ramen you can tell by the texture of the noodles, the sauce is the boss on this dish, if add on $3 shrimp in the noodles. we were there Thursday 2/24/21, have not visited, based on first time experience, positive.
Our bill was correct, showing 20% discount on sushi's listed on the small sheet of menu. The bill was correct of the dishes ordered. * The Soba Noodles is a regular price dish (we also received a separate full menu), this dish is not part of the 20% menu list, nevertheless, tried, glad we did it ( Soba Noodles had a generous portion of shrimp.)
Upon dining, viewed restaurant setup, lighting, flooring, sushi counter, seats at the bar, tables and booth space, we believe within health dept safety-guidelines and protocols; based on social distancing spacing, no one was seated closely from one table to another. Would recommend and...
Read moreOver the past decade, my visits to Blue Fish have been a delightful ritual, but since relocating to the neighborhood last year, it has become a cherished staple. The ambiance exudes warmth, cultivated by a staff whose hospitality elevates the experience to one of genuine comfort. Requesting a booth for just two, we were graciously accommodated in a spacious six-person setup—a gesture that, while perhaps facilitated by the quieter early evening, underscored the restaurant’s commitment to guest satisfaction. The plush seating and ample space set an ideal tone for an indulgent meal.
Opting for the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) dinner, we embarked on a culinary journey that showcased Blue Fish’s diverse and meticulously crafted offerings. The meal began with a personal favorite: pristine Uni, its buttery richness a sublime opener. With snow falling outside ( yes, snow in April), the miso soup arrived steaming, its savory depth providing soul-warming solace. The Korean fried chicken followed, boasting a crisp exterior and succulent interior, elevated by an expertly judged drizzle of sauce. The ginger salad offered a refreshing counterpoint, while the Mango sushi was a revelation—its vibrant balance so compelling we promptly ordered another round. Smoked salmon delivered consistent excellence, and though not photographed, an array of salmon selections impressed with their freshness.
The undisputed star, however, was the Korean Short Ribs, a dish that alone justifies Blue Fish’s place in Utah’s dining pantheon. Tender, succulent meat, bathed in a sauce that strikes a flawless harmony of sweet and savory, owes its perfection to a tenderizing technique discreetly shared by the manager—a testament to the kitchen’s craft. These ribs are, without hyperbole, the finest in the state.
The AYCE format, with its petite portions, encourages exploration, allowing diners to sample broadly without overwhelming the palate. This was our second foray into the AYCE menu, yet its breadth ensures we’ve only scratched the surface of Blue Fish’s offerings.
Blue Fish is an unequivocal gem, ideal for an intimate date night or as a showcase of Utah’s culinary prowess for visiting guests. It delivers not just a meal, but a memorable experience, one that guarantees our swift return. Bravo, Blue Fish, for consistently exceeding...
