I write this review to credit and give value to Julio S. new GM of this location. For his commitment to the Fitness Connections. In November, I signed up with this location, I was eager to get to a gym and in a location that worked best for my circumstances, and I thought this was a perfect match. Uppon signing up I was a little off put with how staff treated me and my questions, was not entirely sure what I was signing up for after several questions, felt more lead into doing something that might not be the best fit for me. Again, I was eager to get to working out and thought I'd cross the road when I got there if there was any discrepancy. The first day working out I notice, how dirty the location was, the locker rooms were disgusting, spelling of urine, and visiable not taken care of, the floor in the free weights area was bowing up, where the crosstrack training gear was smelt of urine, the list goes on and on. I thought I could gut it out. I mentioned to the front desk about it to their lack of care, their response was oh we know, we are working on it, not in a concern tone, but yeah, oh well, kind of way. Which really threw me off. I try to leave room for grace and trust that what they said was true. To then come back a couple of weeks later to the same stuff. I gave it a few more visits to see if things would change but just couldn't get over the urine smell that was still present. It led me to be very disappointed, and today 01/08/2025 I came into cancle my membership, under the impression, I was going to have to pay a cancelation fee of +$200 due to the poor description of what I was told while singing up. Upset about the possibility I had to pay after being so let down about the staff and facilities, I came in today to ask to talk to a rep. at the front desk about not having to pay such a fee for such clear disappointing reasons. Which was met with a very polite and curdious tone of absolutely, let me actually get me GM. After having a very good and informative talk with Julio S. that things have been noticed and that he had just got in the position to make changes, one being staff, their attitudes and lack of knowledge/being trained greater to give better customer service, etc. One even being the rep that signed me up wasn't even there anymore due to the lack of care. Which such and, I hope the best for them but makes complete sense due to my interaction. That all being said, I am thankful Julio has been put into the position he's put in. I do see the changes,(off hand, the carpets are being cleaned in the locker room.) He is making changes, and it does take time so I dont expect it to be overnight, just not months. I am hopeful that what we talked about will come to light over time and It is with joy and hope I give this review to give praise for his willingness to help out and make the nessary changes to change this location into what it can be. I will not be canceling my membership and will give a 5-star review in the coming months if things do change. The 4 stars are owed strickly to Julio S. concern, knowledge, and willingness care.
Thanks again Julio hopeful you get the support and recognition it will take to turn this place around 💪

On 3/19/2019 I submitted my request to cancel my membership. I got an official cancelation notification sent to my email on 3/20/2018.
Today 4/15/2019 I checked my bank account and sure enough there is a charge.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE MEMBERS: When dealing with this specific sales staff member, make sure you get promises in writing because he tends to make up his own contact rules. Have him show you Fitness Connections terms and policies in writing and use it to back up his word. When we signed, HE COPIED & PASTED our signatures under terms and policies that were NEVER disclosed.
According to the Better Business Bureau site they have been having issues with this since 2015. Their current grade is a D+. I submitted my complaint to the BBB already. I'm not sure how much this is actually help current/future members or the company itself.
Pervious Review:
I've been wanting to get a gym membership for some time already. 2 months ago I contacted both Variety Fitness and Planet fitness by Win Co. I was sent to voicemail, I left my number and questions regarding child care and initiation fee. I have yet to hear from them.
My family has been with Eagle Fitness for 3 years and experienced bad customer service which prompt them to look for a new gym. The receptionist at Eagle had decided that they weren't going to honor an amenity under the membership for the day. My family suggested that we try Fitness Connection. We went online and noticed they offered a 5 day pass. After I submitted my request I was immediately contacted my Lex.
I liked that the gym was clean and well equipped with new machines. Lex was very understanding, extremely knowledgeable and provided us with nothing but superior customer service. Customer service is everything to me. It's comforting to know that I have someone to go to if I have any questions or concerns. I don't think I would have got a gym membership that day if it wasn't for him. Lex was very patient and took the time to answer any questions we had. At no point I time did i feel pressured or rushed to sign up....
Read moreIn the “pro” column: 1)Very cheap rate, especially for such a big facility with so many amenities. 2) It has just about everything you could want in a gym regardless of what type of fitness program you follow. 3) Considering how packed it always is, the facility is pretty clean. In the “Con” column: 1) This gym is $10 per month and to my knowledge the competition in the Sparks area is $20-$25 per month. As you can imagine, this means a majority of the gym goers in the area go here. It is extremely packed most of the day and hard for those who want to get in and out as efficiently as possible. You get what you pay for though, at this rate it’s either a small gym with not much to offer or a gym with great equipment and amenities but to packed to do everything you want in a workout session. 2) The staff is always friendly, but the upkeep throughout the day (restocking towels and spray, getting weights put back to their proper place ect) seems to be the sole responsibility of the one cleaning person and the patrons. 3) Good luck finding weight clips for the barbells and weight plates for the free weight station you are working out on. You will have to roam the gym to find what you need. I’m not sure if this a theft issue or an issue of not investing in the gym. 4) By and large little to no observance of gym etiquette. Patrons are very nice and I’ve never had an issue with anyone when we arrive to the same machine at the same time. The biggest issue (especially with a packed gym) is those who sit at a machine and chit chat with others rather than use the machine and those who just sit at a machine and use their cell phone. I do politely talk to people who do this, but it would be nice to have the support of the staff in both this and ensuring there are enough weights at every station. I have a year contract with them which will be up soon. I will probably pay the extra money to sign up with another gym when my contract is up. At the end of the day, I want to go to a gym where I can actually work out. In the meantime I will continue to do my part in keeping this gym clean and in order as all...
