Is a sandwich by any other name the same? Hoagie, hero, grinder, submarine or sub? What do you call your sandwich?
It is located in Sparks Galleria shopping center. Home Depot is in the same area and a huge parking lot sits in front of these businesses. Located across the street from Costco.
I love history and love that this business originated in Sparks, NV. Yep you heard that right. It originated in Sparks, NV under the name of "Sub Shop" in 1972 by brothers from New Jersey. Headquarters today are in Reno, NV. A man named Larsen bought the business in 1975 and changed the name to Port of Subs after a community contest for a new name.
I have been to this Port of Subs many times. As far as chain restaurants go this one is one of the friendliest. I have been to several Port of Sub Restaurants that have no idea how to wrap a lettuce wrap. This store should train the other stores how to wrap the lettuce wraps. If you get a lettuce wrap from here it won't fall apart (yes, you will still have to eat it in the paper).
Today is the first time I have every seen it slamming with customers. Although they were packed and had a lot of customers I was in and out in probably 10-15 minuets. I was surprised how fast they were moving customers in and out. I stopped to get my dear daughter a sandwich for lunch. It was not your average sandwich but it did not seem to throw the SANDWICH team off. They made my sandwich as if it was a relay race. It moved through three different people until my sandwich was complete and a fourth person rang me up took my boy scout Camp Card that gave me $0.50 cents off and ran my rewards card through. All of the people who helped to make my sandwich were kind, courteous, and all did it with a smile on their faces while dealing with a long and on going...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe quality of this location has declined steadily over the last number of visits. Visits in the past have been quick and efficient and quality of food has been great. Today I went to order two sandwiches. I was initially ignored while a customer who walked in after me was attended to. When I was finally helped, I was having trouble finding the hot pastrami on the menu so I asked if they had a hot pastrami. I was informed the number 9 was what I was looking for so I ordered. About halfway through the process I noticed the pastrami and cheese hadn't been heated so I asked why. I was told only the hot pastrami was warm, not the number 9 to which I asserted I had asked for a hot pastrami. No attempt was made to offer up rectify the situation and I was frustrated at that point so rather than make a big deal I finished out my order, paid and left. In addition to the poor service, the woman who sliced the meat for my sandwich adjusted her hair while wearing the same gloves she then used to touch meat and cheese. The other female employee coughed and didn't wash her hands. Overall the level of quality and customer service has declined to the point I won't return to Port of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a sandwich for pick up. First I had to wait longer than expected to have my food handed to me and there were only 2 other customers in store and 2 port of subs employees working. When I got home and opened up my package the roll was burnt. Not sure why they would even serve burnt bread. My guess is they knew I wouldnāt see it until I got home because it was a pick up order. The sandwich itself was made very messy did not look appealing at all and my sonās sandwich which he gets the same one often said his did not taste that great as well. Iām very disappointed because this location is usually pretty consistent and normally Iāve gotten very good sandwiches from this location. Itās really upsetting that you are always asked to leave a tip when ordering online before you have even been served. I always leave tips and was regretful that I did this time because the food...
