Came here to get breakfast with my daughter today and had a bit of a bad experience. Food was great, as usual, and our server was attentive and on top of things. We were sat quickly and the food came out shortly. We were in a bit of a rush so I asked the server to take my card so we could pay and she processed the transaction quickly. Everything was going great! My daughter needed to go to the bathroom and can't go by herself (she's 5, so can go in by herself but gets scared if I don't wait for her) so I got up to take her and waited outside the women's rest room for her.
This is where things went downhill: I was outside the restroom watching our table and saw one of the bussers/hostesses go to clear. I immediately walked over to tell him to stop but he ignored me trying to get his attention and went into the back of the house (literally looked directly at me). I waited for about a minute then noticed my daughter over by the bathroom looking around for me so went to go grab her. I let one of the staff know that we were not finished and to not clear the rest of the food (my daughter's food was still there but mine had been taken).
In the time I walked to the bathroom to get my daughter and turned around, the busser who had cleared my plate was already back at the table and taking the rest of the food away. I saw the staff member I talked to try to tell him to stop but he completely ignored the staff member and kept walking. By the time we got back to the table the staff member I had talked to was apologizing and shrugging at me. At this point, the busser/hostess who cleared my table had gone around the back of the house and toward the hostess stand where the staff member I talked to let him know that he had incorrectly cleared our table. At this point I saw the busser who cleared our table shrug his shoulders and tell the staff member I talked to that it was the manager's job to handle this.
Normally, this would have been a very simple fix. Refund the food or remake the food. However, because I didn't want to punish the server by not leaving a tip, we had already paid, and we were out of time I didn't want to cause a scene. The worker who had cleared our table was a young man who just didn't seem to care about what his coworker had to say to him or whether we had actually finished a meal.
The problem here isn't that I am upset about my food; it was the blatant disregard of not only me trying to be polite and tell the busser not to clear our food, but, also that this individual completely ignored a coworker who was just trying to help and then acted like he could care less. The manager tried to come up and make things right but I had already paid and didn't want to cause a scene. I calmly told her after what I just witnessed I wouldn't be coming back and they had lost my business (I worked in this industry and I know what it feels like to be treated like garbage by coworkers who don't care). I had already paid and didn't want to have the server miss out on tips because of the error of her coworker and we were short on time.
Basically, the food is great, the service is great, but I can't stand it when people treat one another badly just because they messed up. I'm not sure if it was just the individual's demeanor or that's just the way he is, but, when a coworker is trying to help you; you don't brush them off like I saw him do. You also don't shrug off throwing away someone's food (even if it was an accident), you apologize and make it right. Unfortunately, this individual depended on other people to make it right for him and I just don't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn one of my cross country excursions across the US with 3 of my Active Duty worriers and we decided to go to do a brunch and we though that we could not miss with IHOP because it the devil that we know right? Boy were we wrong, We arrived Sunday morning about 11 or so to get a good brunch and were met with a line and multiple parties waiting. That because a bigger sign that we were in the right spot because the locals were here in force. After getting to our table William a young waiter greeted us, took the drinks and we were on our way, unfortunately he could not recognize that the drink that he just delivered (French Vanilla Coffee) when he delivered it was missing EVERYTHING except the coffee and the cup. No worries we informed William of the issue and the dirty silverware and he was right on it. We placed our order and we were on the way, the order took the appropriate amount of time given the capacity of the restaurant. Then we received the order and we could tell that the kitchen not William were not prepared for the day and the volume of customers that they received. 1st There were things missing from our order, so when William came back to the table to talk to by partner (not he brought nothing to the other tables except his note pad) about his missing hash browns and the missing drink order he stated sarcastically I only have two hands.... No worries, I got Williams attention and told him that my order of French toast was so cold that it would not melt the butter that was on top. He took the plate and returned with an almost completely overcooked version of the French toast (that was either just dumped into the microwave or was on the grill too long with NO BUTTER) additionally the sausage links were almost too overcooked to cut with my butter knife, by this time we had been inside the restaurant at the table for over 30 minutes so we ate our food and laughed and the lack of professionalism and quality of the food while we determined what to tip the waiter who could use a class or 10 at someone's customer service university. Little towns like Sparks Nevada are literally an oasis in the middle of the desert but this IHOP makes McDonalds seem like a good choice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is one of the few bad reviews that I ever leave, but this one is well earned. It started off pleasant, our server was attentive at first and was quick to take our orders and get our drinks. My husband ordered Nashville chicken tenders and asked her to hold the waffle and replace it with fries. I ordered the biscuit and gravy combo. When our food came and the chicken tenders were hard. my husband said the sauce was disgusting. Hashbrowns were chewy. both the hashbrowns and the chicken tenders tasted like theyāve been sitting on a warmer. We were there at about 2:30 PM. I brought this to the attention of our server and asked if she could just replace it with biscuits and gravy for my husband. She asked if she could just tell the cook to make the biscuits and gravy combo but keep the other meal on our ticket because she did not want to get in trouble for voiding. We said thatās fine, as long as thereās no price difference. My husband wasnāt able to eat his food with me. We ended up sharing a drink because we never got a refill until after we were done eating everything. When I brought this to attention, she apologized. Told her that she should void off the other meal and add the biscuits and gravy at a discounted price and she said she didnāt understand why since they were the same price. I tried to explain to her that this was part of good customer service, and her response to me was I think you just want to give me a bad time. Then walked off. I get that places are short staffed can get hectic if youāre the only server and you have a lot of tables. But there were not a lot of tables full at this time and thereās no excuse to be rude. I am not one to give a bad review Unless itās warranted, but with how expensive it is to go out to eat, you expect reasonable service, and...
