Original post at 1 star: I originally booked with Teresa, but she had to leave early so I rebooked with Tee. Tee was really nice, but VERY pushy. My haircut and scalp treatment, in total, was 30 minutes. The cut itself was less that 15. She was really rough with her hands and pulled on my hair a lot, didn't brush through all the knots, and didn't seem to spend much time on the actual cut. It really felt like she wanted to get done and have me gone ASAP. Which was weird, because I originally was booked for two hours. I felt like my appointment was incredibly rushed and what I wanted for my hair was immediately brushed aside. Because of her very intense personality, I felt like I just needed to smile and shut up. I wanted a cut I've gotten before, but she saw that I had curly hair and decided it wasn't what I needed. I tried to tell her I didn't want layers, but she just talked over me. So I just smiled. I didn't even have time to tell her why I wanted the cut I wanted. So now I have layers I didn't want, a cut I didn't want, and I didn't even get the relaxing experience that I paid for. I'm a first time mom and haven't gotten out of the house in months. This was a gift from my partner to relax and get my hair taken care of. I was not at all relaxed when I left. I don't like confrontation, I'm extremely introverted, so it's hard to try and talk when I am talked over. I am also a people pleaser and honestly was worried about how she'd react if I showed my disappointment. I paid, and gave a tip, but I'm not happy and wish I had the guts to talk about it to the lady at the desk, but it's hard to do that when the stylist I had was stationed right next to the opening. I wasn't taken care of and I'm upset that I have to spend more time on my hair now than I would have if she would have just listened. I cried when I got home. If I could, I'd request a refund. Which is what I want. My hair is cut off and I can't get it back to get the cut I actually wanted. Edit: I have been trying to call, no answer. Will update when I get a call back or the phone answered tomorrow. Edit: The owner, Dawn, called me back this morning and listened to what I had to say. She was very attentive and apologized for the previous days events she made sure to make the situation right in the best way she knew how. I appreciate that she heard my concerns and due to her response I have updated my review from one...
Read moreFirst and foremost I want to thank the team that took care of my mother. From the moment I called, mind you not being recommended nor knowing anything about any salon or spa treatment, the professionalism was above expectation. A gentleman answered and explained who they were and what they offered. For the record I’m horrible with names. I then interrupted him and told him all I need is a hot stone spa treatment for an individual. He understood I knew what I wanted and I didn’t need to hear his up sells or any other service they offered. He began setting up the appointment and taking my information. As I was giving my card information the salon was getting loud. My idea, thought of this type of establishment is, respectfully, a bunch of chatty women joking with each other. As such he had asked the salon politely to quiet down for a moment while he took and confirmed my order. After that everything was good to go, appointment set, paid, confirmation of appointment delivered to my phone. Little did they know the person I was paying for was my mom. She said she was treated with so well and the staff was playful, sneaky(in a good way), and was just spoken to with so much respect. I never told anyone any additional information other than I wanted the hot stone service and for this person that’s it. Now for the good stuff. What the staff didn’t know was my mom had been having lots health problems. There is an extensive amount of stress currently in the family and mom actually hasn’t been able to sleep more than 3 hours if she did sleep. She called me crying after the massage. She was so indescribably happy with how she was treated she kept bragging the rest of the day how sweet the people were and how well she was taken care of and how playful they were about not telling her anything. The services rendered made her day. Obviously she enjoyed her massage and stones but she could not say enough about this establishment and the people behind the scenes. I just want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and hope all your guest have the same experience that my mom won’t stay...
Read moreI've had very long hair for years and decided it was time to get rid of it. I got a Groupon for Shine and made an appointment. The day I was there, Laura was the only one there, everyone else was at a convention in San Francisco, so I can't speak for the ventilation as another reviewer mentioned. The salon space is small, but I didn't find it cramped. The decor is contemporary and natural. The product line is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable about them.
The last two times I had my hair done in an "upscale" salon were both disappointing. One time, the stylist talked the whole time about herself and did only a basic trim on my long hair and charged me $39. The second time, the stylist didn't say anything and did only what I told her to do. I got better service at the Supercuts for $20!
When I sat down with Laura, she took the time to look at the pictures I brought, look at me and my hair and actually make suggestions about what would look good. I had brought a couple friends with me and she very graciously let them hang out and take pictures. Laura cut almost a foot off my hair and the salon arranged to donate the hair for me. The haircut was exactly what I wanted, even though I didn't know exactly what I wanted! It looks great on me and works great with my very curly hair. Not everyone does well with curly hair, but Laura took the curl into account when cutting and kept scrunching it as she cut to see where it would curl up. She recommended product that worked with my new style. I am thrilled with the results and will...
