I went here while on the trip
Don’t go by look of the restaurant see how they treat customers and how they prepare.
And be prepared for 18% service charge in addition to the tax when I asked the girl (rude daughter of the owner) said it was because she served us. Seriously ?? Two adults and two kids without letting us know that you are charging?
They charged $84 for chicken soup, dum biryani, two Chapati one Gobi Manchurian, and Tasteless noodles.
More importantly the cooks are not Indians in Indian restaurant.
The server girl was rude while talking. After reading other reviews about the owner, the behavior of the girl was same as explained in the reviews about her owner. so I felt she must be someone close to the owner and surprisingly she said she is the owner at the end. She raised her voice mentioning that she is 19 years old, as if she wanted to tell I am the owner and am 19 years old. Do I really care? I just wanted to have a good food and good service. I have never seen such a rude behavior. After all parents reflection I guess.
About rating,
Service - I already explained what happened during my visit. Zero rating overall
Goat dum biryani - It didn’t have dum at all. It was tasteless
Noodles : My son don’t eat non veg so we ordered noodles. They were just boiled noodles and steered into some sour stuff. My son hated it like anything at the first bite itself.
Chicken soup was salty - zero
Oily food
Due to my bad experience I didn’t give the tip to girls started fighting with me. Pathetic girl.
This is response to the owner's reply. As I do not see reply option there for the owner's comments.
Dear Owner,
I didn't expect this kind of reply from you. I know the mentality of the owners like you. I thought you are generous enough to say something positive so that other readers can at least consider coming.
Please check the facts with your daughter, I can't change your mindset. Here are the things
About packing the food: Ask any Indians; whether they waste the food that too such expensive from your restaurant.
About no. of people, why don't you check the receipt whether that was for four people or eight people? If you do not have that information then that is your problem. Also, your daughter explicitly said, they charge gratuity for 4 people, did you check that? Do you have any indication anywhere in your restaurant that you will be charging gratuity for 4 or more people?
As I clearly mentioned I was on tour, do you think I will come to your restaurant again? Even it is last restaurant on the earth, I will hate to come and ...
“why the h*ll do you not have a sign that tells me not to touch it.” why don't you talk to your daughter first and see who said? I was with my two kids, and I don't use such words at least in front of my kids. I am not sure how your daughter is raised. Her arrogance of conveying the message to "not to touch" was extremely negative; and yes at that point in time; I asked her to put a note about it. But again, this was kept in the restaurant wherever it was easily accessible; I thought customers can play their own choice of songs using Bluetooth because my kids wanted to play a song of their choice for which they wanted to dance. I didn't know that it was not supposed to be touched, otherwise I wouldn't have had.
Again, I do not expect more than what you mentioned here. I hope all customer those who are visiting will respect your response and judge the situation. Happy...
Read moreI don't come here too often, and when I do it is considered a "treat," but this time it wasn't the greatest experience, and the food was "so so."
I ordered the vegetarian samosas, Chana Masala and the vegetarian biriyani. I had asked for extra spicy as I love spicy food, and my food was good, but no spice whatsoever. I don't know if maybe I have finally built a tolerance, but the last time I came here, when I asked for spicy, it was exactly what I asked for. This time, I ended up asking if they have any spices I can add, and I was given a hot sauce which finally helped for the flavor I was looking for.
The service, unfortunately, wasn't so great either. We first had a young gentleman that helped us and he just seemed like he didn't want to be there ( possibly a language barrier issue as well, which I completely understand). He did have someone else help us for a little bit, and she was helpful, but towards the end of dinner we were passed back to him, and he would only come to us if we pressed the "call" button at our table (at this point we were the only ones left in the restaurant, too). We also didn't know we had to pay at the counter and we were waiting for our checks, but again, it has been a long time since I have been here so maybe it was always like that or things have just changed.
Regardless, the food was alright for what it was, and the service can improve. I may comeback in the future as this may have been...
Read moreThe relatively new Haveli Indian Cuisine & Bar in Sparks, decorated with bright, colorful and upbeat ambiance, is a delightful place to walk into. Unlike the other typical Indian restaurants in the area, this family owned business seems to offer delicious Indian cuisine at a reasonable price. I first visited this restaurant on an occasion of a birthday celebration with about 150 guests. The restaurant appeared very accommodating to the needs of the guests and the young lady with a bubbly personality served sodas with a smile to all the guests and inquired about the quality of services they offered. That’s something rather refreshing since service quality is not usually a trade mark of most Indian restaurants. They offered a wide range of Indian food from appetizers to main dishes to desserts and they were, from the perspective of someone who is very familiar with Indian dishes, very delicious. Out of curiosity, I began a conversation with the other guests of the night about what they thought of the décor, the services offered, the cleanliness of the facility, and the quality of food served that night. Most people I spoke with were pleasantly surprised with the presence in our area of a quality Indian restaurant like Haveli. I hope they keep up the quality of food and service at a reasonable price and add to the quality of life in northern Nevada. Good...
