I have been working out regularly for a long time, over the years I have focused on heavy lifting, cardio, running, sports, etc. And, while along the way my fitness has improved, I felt that my approach was not as complete as it could be, that something was missing. Several months ago, on a whim of a search, I found CrossFit Veracity (CFV). I was a little familiar with CrossFit and my interest was piqued. So, after perusing CFV's website I decided to sign up for the trial to gain some insight and a better overall understanding of CrossFit. After the first intro session, I “crawled” out of the box/gym thinking to myself, “wow I had no idea how out of shape I really was” and also thinking that I won’t be going back….at all! I did go back to finish the trial sessions, and while I had the same physical and emotional reactions again, I knew as I really did after the first intro class…..that I would be signing up! That, I found what was the missing component all along, that I found an approach to fitness that is all-encompassing.
What really separates CFV from other gyms, fitness centers, sports, etc. is the coaching. I have had the opportunity to take many classes with all of the coaches, they are all very good at what they do; all of them are members who work out at the box as well, and are all very experienced and accomplished athletes that actually enjoy what they do. It becomes obvious very early on that CFV has a system in place that ensures high quality coaching through the promotion of high caliber coaches that are immersed in a culture and discipline that fosters an environment where the beginner to elite athlete can learn and improve. In my experiences that is not only rare, but absent from most gyms, fitness centers, etc.
While I still have a long way to go to before I can be considered a CrossFit elite, I have come a long way in a relatively short period of time. I have made improvements in endurance, technique and have warmed up to embrace what I am not good at or movements that might have intimidated me; through the “re-testing” of benchmark WOD’s every few months my results have improved markedly. A really good feeling comes from actually seeing your improvements posted on the white board, knowing that the time and effort that you are putting in coupled with the great coaching are more than worth it, definitely much more worthwhile than if you were to try to do it alone, or muddle through other programs with “coaches” “trainers” at other gyms who are more interested in what’s on their phones than the members that are entrusting themselves to them.
And, unlike at other gyms, fitness centers that I have belonged to, there is an ambiance that is welcoming, that makes you want to come back and be a part of the community. I used to be the “blinders” guy at the gym, head down, ear buds in, anti-social; at the last gym I belonged to, for two years, I never had a single conversation or meaningful exchange with a member of the staff or other members. But, at CFV the opposite couldn’t be more true! It is a very social setting, open and supportive. I have never belonged to a gym, “family”, where the coaches and other members are as encouraging and welcoming as they are at CFV.
So, if you are looking for the next best step in your fitness journey don’t hesitate, sign up for the trial and see for yourself how the next great, well earned, review of CFV could...
Read moreCrossfit Veracity is a remarkable place. I currently attend for personal training and nutrition.
When I first started over a year ago, I was feeling weak, shy and like I didn't belong. As soon as I walked through those doors, I was supported by my trainer Amanda and all the other wonderful people. I was reassured that this is where I needed to be.
Barely being able to jump rope, struggling with dead lifts and breathing way too heavily after a two minute bike ride has quickly turned into being able to almost jump 100 in a minute, lifting with ease and far less heavy breathing after an even longer period.
Recently, with the nutrition I also took on, I have been able to change my daily routine and although the actual weight loss is a slow progression, it's effective and I consistently meet my short terms goals. Recently, for the last 28 days, there was a nutrition challenge which they setup perfectly and really got you involved with it. It further solidified my experience at Crossfit and I know they're in for a long haul investment of not only myself but for others.
I highly...
Read moreI can't put into words how amazing Veracity is. Some people have a negative idea about Crossfit or the Crossfit community. Veracity Athletics takes away any of the negative ideas anyone might have but keeps all of the good. I am 46 and each year I feel my fitness improves. I can write at length about the thoughtful approach for every member at all different levels of fitness but I wanted to share a story instead. Recently my father passed away and we really didn't make the service arrangements public. I looked into the crowd at his funeral and saw several coaches and members of Veracity. They are more than just amazing coaches focused on every member's fitness and well being. Their focus doesn't end at just your physical health. The coaches and members truly care about each other. There are so many amazing people at Veracity from all walks of life and all levels of success. I hope to see more and more people in the Summit and surrounding areas try Veracity Athletics. You will not be...
