The landscaping at the James Center is legit and there is a surprisingly good selection of plants and flowers for a shopping center. They have a Fred Meyer, Rite aid, Verizon, FedEx, Starbucks, and several fast food restaurants. I won't comment on the individual services, but instead the overall layout of the James Center shopping center. I have two major complaints: There is a large gathering of loiterers that also panhandle. Signs were put up that said No Loitering and they were defaced. Several times I have been getting a last minute item at Fred Meyer and there was some sort of verbal confrontation. Maybe a heightened police presence would be beneficial?
19th St between Mildred and 70th st gets extremely busy. The city just recently did tons of construction at the intersection of 19th and Mildred, but unfortunately didn't have the foresight to see how difficult it is to utilize the yellow turn lane that leads into James Center. I have seen so many near accidents. Most of the issue comes from westbound traffic utilizing the turn lane to go south on 70th st. Not sure of a solution, but be aware of difficult navigation getting into...

Read moreI prefer this Fred Meyer location to the other one down the street (across from Cheney Stadium) for produce, vegan, and natural goods. The produce seems more fresh, it is less crowded, and the cashiers are more friendly. This location also has nicer restrooms. The layout of the produce makes more sense to me and seems to prevent crowding. I cannot remember exactly what the hours are but any time of day I've been here, there is a cashier with less than two customers. I love that the natural/vegan/etc. foods are easier to navigate here since the orientations of the aisles is parallel to the cashier lanes (weird thing to notice but really helps with the flow of shoppers.) There are usually shaded parking spots which is nice for these warm days.
(The other Fred Meyer is better for fresh cut flowers, garden, pet, and...
