Kyra, just a little info I learned when I was home alone and went into labor with my daughter after she had shifted and was resting on my spinal cord, the nearest station being less than 2 blocks away it took 22 minutes for help to come, so naturally I inquired after my release and was informed that unit near my home was already dispatched to another call. Studio the nearest station may only be a little over a mile away that does not necessarily mean that the engine that responded is from that station. So on the norm it would most likely come from there, however if that engine is on another call it (the call from your building) would come from another station. Also if they have an alarm code that goes directly to station some stations have a way to tell what the call is (real, false, non-emergency. Hope that helps answer your question as to the amount of time it took. Best of...
Read moreAlarm went on in a hotel but there was no fire ( possible from guests smoking because the hallway had a strong weed smell). Felt relieved when rescue team came quickly but they didn't know how to turn off the alarm; it took them 40 minutes to figure out. When we told them that there were pets in the rooms with much more sensitive hearing than humans' they seemed annoyed and ignorant about it. We understand that the alarm is loud but really??? In the hallways it was so unbearable that our brain was pounding. Does it really have to be soooo laud???? How can you carry down out pets. We think alarm was set up waaay too loud which is totally unnecessary. The rescuers seemed not knowledgeable about the problem and unprofessionals and senseless to our concern. Sorry, one...
Read moreI live in the Post apartments on Harbor Island and at 1:34am our fire alarm went off. It was not until 1:47am that the first truck arrived. Subsequent trucks arrived 3-4 minutes after that, I do not know the specific time as I was unable to see my clock. But my concern is that it took 13+ minutes to have any emergency services whatsoever arrive. According to Apple maps, our closest fire department is 1.1 miles away and a five minute drive. I fail to see why it takes 13 minutes to respond based on the proximity and emergency vehicles do not stop at lights. I’m incredibly disappointed and quite honestly in fear, as of this were an emergency, it would become a tragic event based on your poor...
