After two vets had left the clinic I was using for the past two years I decided to go to Baxter Vet clinic based upon the positive reviews. From the start, they required a deposit even before stepping into the place. which should be a red flag. On my first visit, I had hoped that they would have some recommendations as how to treat my cat, based upon my description of what his issues were and the records sent from my previous vet. At the end of the visit, the vet prescribed an oral medication even though I had explained to her during the exam that my cat absolutely would not tolerate me attempting to give him an oral prescription. She had recommended xrays of the mouth and skull to see if they could find the issue. After getting home and emailing the vet for an estimation of the cost I was sent an estimation for procedures that weren't even related to the issue we discussed. Over the weekend my cat took a turn for the worse and it was clear he wasn't going to make it. When I brought him in to have him euthanized they took him in the back to give him a sedative and insert a catheter. The procedure took over an hour and a half. After sitting in a room for 45 minutes I had to inquire what the issue was. I'm sure my boy was frightened and confused as to what was happening and I couldn't be with him. They kept saying he wasn't taking the sedative well. I'm not even sure what that means since they don't sedate until the very end. Finally, they brought him in to me and we said our goodbyes and he was put to sleep. I'm fearful that his last moments behind closed doors were not pleasant. I was there to comfort him as best I could until the very end but am suspect as to what was happening leading up to that time. Unfortunately I've had to say goodbye to other cats and typically the procedure takes about 15 minutes. Additionally, their fees for services provided are approx. twice that of my previous vet. While Baxter vet clinic is conveniently located to where I live, I don't think I will be using their services...
Read moreThe staff is great. Best place I have ever taken any of my pets to. We adopted 2 cats from a rescue over a year ago and have been to Baxter about 4x now. The Vets are so caring, genuine, and thorough. They treat our cats as if they were their own. Dr. Caroll and Dr. Mauck were 2 out of 3 vets I have met and loved both of them. The techs are great and so good with our cats as well. And the receptionists are all friendly and helpful. Very very reasonable pricing. A VERY positive environment. So glad we picked this place to take care our kitties!!
Recently took our little girl Luna for dental work/extractions. I was a hot mess leaving her there but the staff was great as always and treated her amazingly. They really care for these pets as if they were their own. Dr. Doyle who performed the surgery even came out to meet me when I picked up my cat. He was super nice and friendly. Jessica the tech was also very sweet and loving to Luna and explained everything to me. They gave clear instructions for post surgery care and followed up w a phone call. Luna is recovering well and almost back to her old self. Thank you for taking such good care of our pets!!
March 2024 Luna .. the cat of a million issues went back today bc she is not doing so well....the vet techs were all great and very sweet and caring to my little Luna. Dr Carroll was great. The first time I took Luna there 6 yrs ago she was her first vet. I liked her then and still do. She is very caring. She is willing to talk to you and answer all your questions and concerns. Definitely my favorite vet. Everyone there is so caring and treat like my pets as if it they are their own. The text message option for communicating is so amazing and convenient. Thank you to everyone there for...
Read moreThis vet participates in PetAssure. Look up this discount program if you don't want to buy pet insurance. The desk staff are still getting used to using it (we were the first), but it can definitely save you money on all visits!
Baxter veterinary clinic takes good care of our four cats. I appreciate the time our vet takes to listen to all of our concerns and address them (we've been brushed off and placated by vets in the past). I'm so glad for the live rabies vaccine that is used for the cats as we lost a cat to cancer from the adjuvant (killed) rabies vaccine. We never want to go through that again, ever. Baxter is extensive with the cats yearly work ups (but they ask if we want the extras first so there's no surprises) to make sure our babies are well and going strong, but the prices about match out previous clinic. The front desk staff are so sweet and friendly and are always interested in our babies and never bothered by a story about something the cats did. This surprises me as they probably hear tons of these kinds of stories every day. The techs are great at cat wrangling and calming too. I feel like one of the vets that is not our vet is not as thorough and doesn't listen as well. We just didn't mesh well with that vet, probably because my Dad and I are very particular and detail oriented people. That doesn't mean that others won't get along well with the other vet though. If you miss their calls it can be a bit difficult to play phone tag to get back in touch with your vet team, so make sure you have your phone available during the time you expect their call and sometimes beyond (we all...
