I enjoyed the visit to this small World Market location even though there was a little hiccup at the cash wrap. Some signage got mixed on the shelf- same product, wrong SKU resulting in wrong price point at cash out. The very young and inexperienced at cashier and customer service person need some additional training- the price point came up 3 times the advertised shelf price (?) so I questioned it because I read to make sure the product matched what I saw. I asked him for a “price check” and he reported to me he did one with the scanner in his hand…, I could see he didn’t understand the request having ultra reliance on trusting only th computer before him- not his fault but his attitude in correction or self learning could have taken a hike, imho as he got defensive when I asked him to please have someone price check the shelf price because something appeared to be incorrect, instead of calling for assistance with a growing line, he panicked and became rude in his actions wanting to make it appear as if my asking for a price check of a 3X increase was unreasonable. I didn’t want to embarrass the kid, so I suggested he put things on hold and I’d go find someone to price check with me since he didn’t seem to know or be willing to call for assistance- he told me I “someone is back there”, so I went looking. He was able to move to another register and help the growing line as I did that. The more senior, yet still very young representative that did assist me came and saw that the product was the same, it was marked clearly but that there was a company error to do with the SKU. He apologized and offered to honor the reduced price because of it- I took the offer graciously but wouldn’t have forced the issue as I could see how the employee that made the mistake could have made such a mistake - it was a fine detail- however mystery solved and it got resolved. The fact that I was offered to honor the price was a very nice gesture (even if it is the law) it wasn’t a bait and switch scenario - it was a simple mistake and I appreciated the professional approach. Maybe some polish up work on how to deal better with interactive and educated consumers, harmless conflict resolution and customer service- pass it down to all the team members! Fun store, lots of cool pieces and...
Read moreI had an incredibly frustrating experience with World Market that has left me feeling completely unvalued as a customer. I ordered several umbrella canopies and sent a relative to pick them up. Shockingly, my relative was told the items had already been picked up—which was simply not true. I asked the store to check their camera footage, as I had not picked them up. Later, I received a call stating that I could come in to pick up the canopies, with no real explanation of what had happened.
When I arrived at the store myself after being told the items were ready for pickup at any time, the staff had trouble even locating the order. Once they finally found it, I asked to speak to the manager to understand what had gone wrong. The manager refused to speak with me, citing not wanting to say something incorrect. While I understand the desire to be cautious, it's basic courtesy to at least show your face to a concerned customer—especially when the store has made such a glaring error.
To be fair, the employee who assisted me during the pickup was extremely kind and helpful, and I appreciated their demeanor. Unfortunately, their efforts were overshadowed by the manager’s unwillingness to take responsibility or engage directly with me. I was told I would get a call from the manager who was handling the situation if I left my information—which I did. It’s been over 24 hours, and I still haven’t received a follow-up.
This entire situation was handled poorly, and the lack of communication and accountability has left me deeply disappointed. I expected better from World Market, and based on this experience, I will be seriously reconsidering whether I...
Read moreI primarily go to Cost Plus to avail of the selection of food products from overseas. The problem is that there's a considerable markup(in some cases up to 200%) on basic products, like teabags from Ireland. I can't get them anywhere else as easily so I take the hit on the price for the convenience. I do also like their furniture selection and the styles are mostly my taste, but again the prices are on the steep side.
As for the location and experience, there is ample parking in the lot and the staff are friendly, but seldom seen.
On this most recent visit, they had an unfortunate leak from the ceiling due to the rain that seemed to be emanating from the HVAC unit. The bucket they had was not really able to catch all the rain and I don't recall seeing a wet floor sign.
My son needed to use the restroom and he immediately wanted to hurry up and get out of there as there was a nasty smell. The toilet roll and hand towels were not inserted into the dispensers and were just sitting on top.
If they were a bit better on prices, I'd likely...
