On 4/9/22 around 3PM I went in to have some copies made of a flyer I needed copies of for the next day. The Arab lady working in the Copy section told me there was only one copier working and they were using that one to get caught up. I was like what kind of operation are ya'll running in here. What you mean you only have one copier. She said yes and I'm about to get off work in 5 minutes so if you do it online you'll get in 24 hours and there is a FedEx across the street in you need it sooner. I just said, ok and left very disappointed. About an hour later I called back to Office Depot and the same Arab woman answered the phone. I said, I thought you were getting off work. She says, unfortunately I'm still here. I asked her what time did they open on Sunday and she replied, 8AM. I said ok I will be there at 8:01AM. Around 5:45PM I called back again to get email address to send in my flyer ahead of time. Another woman answered. She gave me the email address and then I asked her what time did they open on Sunday. She replied, 10AM. OMG!! I wanted to reach through that phone and grab someone. Why is the Arab woman working there if she don't know what the heck is going on in her...
Read moreYesterday, I had an exceptional experience at this Office Depot in Temecula off Winchester, entirely due to Mark, the General Manager. Although I have been a loyal customer of Office Depot since around 2002, because they were my very first corporate sponsor when I started putting on small business seminars, as a practical matter, all big box stores leave something to be desired on the customer relations front, in this newer digital platform environment.
Mark was "old school." He walked me through the purchase which I could have done on the site at a lower cost, but which I wanted to conduct in person, and assisted me in saving some money by joining the Business Select Membership and taking advantage of a special paper purchase. I could not carry the 3-ream box with me, and he allowed me to store it in his office after purchase, and I returned later to acquire it.
It was like doing business that "old school" way for someone who still remembers that level of CUSTOMER SERVICE. I appreciated it. Big box stores need to distinguish themselves,...
Read moreI brought 6 books in for spiral binding on a Wednesday —The man that assisted me was very nice but very unmotivated and simply could not or would not give a specific date when I could pick up my order. I was stunned because I always get a pick up time or future date. I pressed for a date— I had to ask all the questions. He was not giving me any communication or info back. As a customer, I shouldn’t be the one asking for all the answers. There is protocol. Eventually, I got , “ It might be finished by Saturday or Sunday— but I’m not sure.” When I paid for my order (before work completed) I asked if he had my phone number. He did. He would call. Long and the short of it——- NO CALL! Monday afternoon, I speak with a manager. They resolved this matter! I thanked them for admitting there was a big screw-up. This is a teaching moment, I hope, for this young man. Always be clear with your customers! Keep it...
