I wanted to forget the incident on March 26th but after reading the news article on the issue concerning the lawsuit about faulty facial recognition and Macy's, I knew I had to say something. On March 26, 2023, I needed to run into Macyās to get a few items ( leggings, a rain jacket, and a red or white dress) for a trip the next day. Yes, Iām a last-minute shopper. Luckily I was able to find a raincoat pretty quickly on the first floor of the on the top rung on the wall by the bathroom. So I found my size and tried it on right there, and it fit thankfully. Then I went to the plus size area to see if I could find the other items I was looking for. As I was looking at the jeggings and jeans, a sales associate came by and she had some type of device that looked like something that they would use to scan merchandise but larger. I smiled and went on looking at items in the area and then the device sheās holding just starts beeping rapidly and loudly multiple times. Thereās a couple that standing by me and we all kind of looked around like whatās going on. At first, I thought that maybe it may have been malfunctioning. But the associate was looking at me with this crazy smile on her face, which I thought was embarrassment, so I went on shopping. And every time I looked up she was there, smiling and looking at me like I didnāt belong there, and the machine was going off again and again, without her scanning anything. Thatās when I realized she was following me and making the machine go off on purpose. Iāve dealt with this type of thing before and determined that Iām not going to let it get to me. I continued shopping for the jeggings I needed, mainly because Macyās is the only store that has these jeggings readily available in my size. I find the jeggings and I go to check out because I need to get out of there. Then she walks by the check-out counter again looking at me. She was enjoying this. (People can be so cruel.) Then there was another lady who passed by with one of those radio mics in her ear. After I checked out, I saw the red dress that I saw online that could possibly fit me and was dressy enough for the dinner I was having on the trip. So I went and tried it on in that filthy dressing room, that had tons of clothes piled up in multiple rooms. I tried it on, but it didnāt fit, so I walked out carrying it high because I knew they were looking for any excuse to do whatever. SMH. So put it on the rack to return. As I was walking down the side aisle to get out of the building, multiple women were walking down the aisle crossing my path in front of me while I was walking, and they all had radio mics in their ears. I was like I was watching a 1960s movie musical. Now that part made me shake my head. I know youāre watching me, why the overkill? I originally didnāt know where this behavior was coming from because I have been a loyal customer, my mom worked for Foleyās before it became Macyās for over 20 years downtown. And Macy's was my first credit card. I havenāt been in several years since the quality of clothes has gone down. I have found out over these last few years there are people out there who enjoy shaming people who look like me. It's despicable. I get that theft is on the rise but do an investigation before you treat anyone like this. These tactics are used to intimidate, scare, and humiliate and is shameful. Iāve been quiet for far too long to whatās been happening to me. You guys have people who arenāt trained to investigate only profile. Please change your tactics. Youāve lost a loyal customer of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJoAnne in the women's show department is the manager. She was rude to me in our 1st encounter. I ignored it. Everyone gets a freebie. Save day, few hours later...
I return to purchase, exchange, and order online. Mind you, this is my 3rd time at this location. I have all my receipts. Mind you, I've spent thousands of dollars within my last 3 visits, cash. JoAnne proceeds to tell me, "oh no we're not exchanging 1 pair for multiple, no ma'am." As I attempted to explain that I was purchasing two and the exchange equals the $51 exchange, she proceeds to raise her voice and began to further cut me off. Mind you, the last manager I encountered here was very nice and patient. She actually refused to accept an exchange or do a return; but she didn't raise her voice. She didn't cut me off. Prior to this incident I would've continued to frequent this location and score them a 10/10 for customer service.
However, after feeling embarrassed and loud talked, I believe I will not return. Please remind JoAnne that she can say the same thing, with a different tone and lower volume. Additional clarification, I appreciate the exchange, apparently she could've refused. However, had she completely informed me the first time that it can only be 1 pair, then we wouldn't have had that unnecessary back and forth.
Originally, she only explained that the exchange would be for $51 because she would not be returning any funds. I accepted that and said thank you. It's not a matter of comprehension, it's a matter of communication. Then I proceed to administration office. I requested her supervisor, while JoAnne and the administrator assistant and another individual was present. I was told that there was no other manager physically on duty that was superior to JoAnne and that Felipe was her direct sup. I was told to leave my contact. I asked twice for an email addressed direct line of contact for any other manager. I was refused. Apparently Felipe will be out in vacation for a few weeks . And instead of an apology from anyone of the 3 women present... The assistant proceeded to correct me as if she was out in the sales floor withe and JoAnne, like I was the problem. Weird... Interestingly enough I run a law firm (litigation) and I'm an educator so I refuse to argue with people who are unwilling to pay my retainer and meet my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love Macyās but the entire shoe department for the morning shift when I was there can use another training on customer service. This isnāt the first time this has happened so therefore now it has gotten to the point for me to leave a review. I came on a day where it was not busy at all so that cuts out all excuses as to why not just myself but others that Iāve observed wasnāt acknowledged when they needed assistance. Nobody even spoke and it took for someone in the perfume department to come ask me if I needed anything and they told me just grab the shoes and find one of the employees who work for that department but they could all see that I needed assistance. When I finally grabbed the two shoes I needed sizes for, the lady attitude came off as if she didnāt want to be bothered nor be at work. When she brought me the shoes she walked off when I needed to see if I could get a different size. I proceeded to just go to the register and ask one of the cashiers for help and even their customer service was not joyful at all. I hope that there becomes a change because today has truly made me no longer want to shop at this location nor recommend it. If I could have given the review a 0 star I would have. I really hope that the shoe department at this location learns customer service so that it will be a better help...
