Six of my friends and I decided to go out for a late meal last night around 1030. We chose Jimās Truck stop because it was the only place open. I have never eaten there before, however I had heard the food was good. We walked in and were told to sit wherever we pleased by the single employee we say working. Letās call her angry waitress, AW for short. I sat down and felt there was something sticky on the table. My friends said the entire table was sticky. We didnāt move because of the size of our group and figured Iād just ask for a wet towel to wipe it down when AW came over. We sat there for at least 15 minutes before AW even brought us menuās or took our drink orders. Now this is excusable to me in a busy restaurant, but not when there are literally two tables of people. AW finally came over with menuās and took our drink orders, however didnāt write any of them down. I asked her for a wet towel to wipe the table down. She came back 15 minutes later, wiped down half the table and threw the towel to my friend saying she couldnāt reach. It appeared she was simply too lazy to walk around the table. She immediately and for no apparent reason copped a major attitude with us. When AW came back with our drinks, she didnāt have one of my friends who was on the phone. She commented that apparently he didnāt want a drink because didnāt order one. Not only did I know that he ordered one but repeated back to her what he ordered. I was cordial and AW was quite rude. We told AW that the bills were split and who was on what bill prior to ordering. We ordered and my friend got his steak medium rare. It came out medium well and looked as if it had been boiled in water to cook it. My other friend ordered pancakes and got onion rings for the table. AW made a snide comment about his food choice. I had onion rings and mozzarella sticks which were ok, the only redeeming quality of the night. We were there for approximately two hours and not once did AW come back to check on us or refill our drinks. I literally had to take my glass and fill it from a tap with water. My friend had to go ask for the bill and AW again copped a major attitude and told him weād have to come up one at a time as it was way to complicated to remember. Remember we gave her all this information when we ordered. My friend purchased my meal, however if I had I wouldnāt have tipped at all. It was that bad. The worst service I have ever had. My friends felt the same. Out of all of us only one gave a couple dollars. As we waited for the last person to pay and come out we discussed what had just happened. That would have been the end of it and this post never would have happened, but what happened next made me even more angry than I already was. As my last friend walked out, 20 feet behind him was AW hot on his tail. She walked right up to our group and said once again with a massive attitude , āThis is not your clubhouse for you to come up and hang out at! The next time I expect a tip!ā The audacity and unprofessionalism of this woman is unrivaled. Complete and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a terrible experience at Jim's truck plaza tonight, January 24, 2015. My brother and I ordered our food and when it came I noticed that the chicken on my grilled chicken looked a little funky and small portioned. I tried a piece and spit it back out into my hand, setting it aside. It was extremely stale, tasteless and cold. I tried another piece with the same result. I ate a small amount of lettuce and tomato, but it was no use. My appetite was gone (sigh). I waited for my brother to finish. The kind waitress came by and I expressed my disdain. She understood when I declined the box she initially offered. She took the stale salad away.
And then I noticed this BIG woman named Sherry marching back in my direction, salad in hand. Was she going to force-feed me, I wondered? I was scared. She was scowling and staring straight at me. She didn't ask what was wrong with the salad. Instead, she accused me of eating half of it and assured me that I was going to pay for it. I told her I would NOT pay for the disgusting food.
Another customer who was sitting directly behind us had ordered the same salad and was kind enough to voice his own opinion that the chicken on his salad was also bad. BIG Sherry ignored him and thrust the salad back into my face a second time. I said, "please take that nasty food away from me before I throw up"! My comment seemed only to fuel her nasty attitude. Some people have anger issues and should not be employed in the customer service sector. I think BIG Sherry would be more suited to working in the garage inflating tractor trailer tires with her FAT MOUTH!
She brought the bill to the table and demanded that I pay for the stale food. I told her that I would not pay and I told her that maybe she should call the police, which she promptly did. I waited for the Cheektowaga police to arrive. They checked out both our stories and told me that if I didn't pay, that I would be arrested for larceny. They (the officers) were very respectful. I had no choice but to pay for the stale food. I shall never go to Jim's truck plaza again. And as for you, BIG Sherry - you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped at TA Travel Center on the Thruway travel west. Prices were outrageous compared to other TA locations I have been so I just got a drink and left as it was only a few more miles to Jims.
Nothing is marked on the Thruway because New York officials want everyone to use the overpriced "Comfort Stations" so they can keep the huge money they make. Thruway was supposed to be a toll highway for "a few years" to pay for construction when NY built it. When they found out how much of a cash cow it is they kept the tolls under the guise of "repairs" to keep the Thruway in top shape. A visit inside the Angola comfort station will show you where the tolls go.
Jims is located in the stretch of Thruway through Buffalo where there is no toll booths. Take exit 52E off the NYS Thruway and Jim's is a short distance south off the exit. It has a truck plaza, a gas and fuel station and of course - Jim's restaurant.
I have been here numerous times at all times of the day and night and I have never been disappointed. The food is good home cooked meals, the coffee is hot and strong like it should be. The cooks are excellent, as is the wait staff. There meals are large and filling, food is great. Inside the restaurant is divided into a smoking and non smoking restaurant by glass walls that allow visibility but keep the smoke separate. So if you are a smoker you do not need to stand out in the cold.
Of course being a truck stop they also have showers and other related services for profess6 drivers. By all means, this place is worth a visit every time you go thru no matter what time of...
