It was to be as expected. A pleasant visit. Everyone doing their job. Unfortunately as all big box large corporations they spend a ton of money keeping Unionized workers out by keeping moles in their workplaces and discouraging any talk of unionizing at the orientation of new employees. They also use manipulation to convince employees that their better off cooperating with the management by using the “”we are one big family” line and the making their training videos using cartoons. I went through it and then went to a union shop. Suddenly I was spoken to like I was an adult and training was by qualified human who were on hand and knew their profession. Even the tricks of the trade. Of course HD isn’t alone. These giant corporations have a huge amount of money to invest in the brainwashing of their employees. If only those employees realized that if the minimum wage went up with the cost of living and would be getting a minimum of $26 dollars an hour. If only they knew that in the 50s and 60s one person’s salary was enough to raise a family. House clothes and food. From the seventies until today massive corporations have been slowly dropping the salaries of the American workers. Carefully so they might not do the math and realize. They even used the women’s liberation movement to their advantage. Pushing for women in the workplace. WHICH I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH but when bringing them in not paying them equally to their male counterpart. It was genius. Using an extremely positive attitude change in the thinking of Americans to start the lowering of the American wage. Convincing the new workforce that they would be treated just as well because of regulations and laws. Then slowly removing the regulations until Reagan busted the airline pilots union by firing all of them while introducing “trickle down economics”. Give the tax breaks to the corporate CEOs and other millionaires. Promising that they would use their windfall savings to create jobs and boost the workforce and economy. Well hindsight is 20/20 and the CEOs built bigger castles and bought more toys. Even automating their workforce with robotic employees that could do twice the work in a tenth of the time. Unfortunately using one truth about Unions. There hierarchy were corrupt, controlled by the mob or we’re actually mobsters themselves. Imagine if our government used that money to clean house in unions rather then handing it to the Walton Family Walmart and Sams Club. This family are the worst offenders. Living like Kings and Queens. Buying priceless art while hiring 80 to 100% part time employees. Saving on benefits and paying minimum wage. Then the daughter bought priceless art and put it in a giant building in the middle of the forest. In the end people who work there must shop there because it’s all they can afford. Chinese products made by peasants for 50 cents a day. It’s exactly because of this that this is exactly where the American workforce is headed. The employees at Homedepot are fantastic because in spite of it all they have a self pride that they must honor. Unfortunately that’s exactly what the billionaires and our politicians are counting on. Unions must be allowed to run or our salaries will continue to fall and we will be forced to accept the same pay of the people across our southern border. It will happen. It...
Read moreDO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT!!! DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HOME DEPOT!!!! Especially in the Rockland County area!!! I'd give 0 (zero) stars if I could!!!
Home Depot utilizes a thirty party delivery company that is highly unprofessional & unprepared. We bought an LG fridge on 11/24/24 & were assured we'd receive the delivery on 11/27 - day before Thanksgiving. They didn't arrive until 11/29. They sent 2 short deliverymen who didnt bring the proper equipment, said they left said equipment at home, & were too concerned with hurting their backs than picking up our existing fridge & delivering the new one. We offered to assist in carrying the fridge but they refused. The guys left with our new fridge & canceled our delivery order without our authorization. We called Home Depot & were told we had to speak directly with the delivery company. WHY would we need to speak with the company when we bought directly from Home Depot?!
Regardless, we called & after arguing with Jessica that this was their error in sending the wrong deliverymen, we were told they would expedite delivery on 11/30. We have been without a fridge for days & have had to use coolers to store food.
They finally arrived on 11/30 & we were told their request order was only for haul-away not delivery. So the representative from the delivery company, Jessica, never put in the request for delivery like we requested & the 2 new guys sent to our house were not able to haul-away our existing broken fridge, nor deliver the new one. According to the gentleman on the phone for the delivery company, the new fridge appeared to be lost & said they didn't have it in their system. That they would have to i vestigate what happened since it appeared the 2 short deliverymen from days prior didn't scan the item back into their inventory. We were told we'd receive a call back but never did.
We then called Home Depot customer service # and recorded our conversation with Tiana. She informed we wouldn't receive our new fridge until Thursday 12/5. At that point we informed her we wanted to completely cancel the order & receive a full refund! We recorded her saying we just had to go to the store & we'd be able to get our full refund since they couldn't process it over the phone.
We go to the store on 12/1 we purchased the LG fridge from at the Nanuet, NY store & the manager informed that the delivery company never processed the paperwork for cancelation - so there was no refund that could be issued today. Also, Tiana from online customer service ensured we'd receive the full refund but only put in the notes to receive $300 not the full value back. Horrible communication!!!
We've read the return policy and no where in there does it indicate we have to wait for a third party delivery company to release the cancelation order for Home Depot to process a full refund.
Worst service ever, horrible communication across all platforms for Home Depot & definitely horrible service from the delivery company!!! We have to somehow HOPE the delivery company can process the paperwork for cancelation for Home Depot to give us our full refund. Obsurd!!
WE ARE NEVER BUYING FROM HOME DEPOT AGAIN!!! This has caused too much undue stress & unnecessary...
Read moreAll big box stores have the same problems and the West Nyack Home Depot is probably about average as these monsters go so I won't condemn the entire store. But I will say that you should think very hard before you purchase an appliance from these folks. I did and I regretted it deeply.
Without going into the details, which are boring, I can summarize as follows:The salesman Candlon Dorvilus made promises that Home Depot was unable to keep and when the deal went sour he disappeared. When I called the store several days later to insist that my visa card be credited for a purchase that was never received I was placed on hold and shuffled between the service desk and the appliance dept. After half an hour of this BS I called back and asked for the store manager, Dave Lawrence, and explained as politely as possible that I was at the end of my patience and needed a credit card refund immediately. I described the failed transaction and explained that my wife was currently in another appliance store and we needed the credit so that she could go ahead with her purchase. Mr Lawrence said that he would look into it and get back to me.
At this point I raised my voice a little and explained that this wasn't good enough, that I needed him to resolve the situation immediately or I would make it my mission to make his life unpleasant. Yes I threatened the man – can you blame me? - his employees had wasted over a day of my time and now I was jumping through hoops to get my money back! Mr Lawrence threatened to hang up (as though he couldn't possibly understand why I was irate) but eventually (after half an hour) I finally got my money back. No apology, no admission that I had been treated poorly, just a simple refund issued by an underling who suggested that I must just be a very “unpleasant person”.
And this is the problem with Home Depot and every other big box store. There is a general absence of competence & accountability, and when the aggrieved customer has the nerve to actually complain the first impulse is to blame the victim. If you're shopping for an appliance I suggest you go elsewhere. There are still a few small businesses in the...
