New review because I've been several times now and walked away happy every visit.
The Clifton Park Warhammer shop is a welcoming space, both for folks new to the hobby and returning fans. It's clean, well lit, and well organized. Pretty much everything is in stock, including paints, tools, and the minis themselves. The manager, Ryan, is friendly and very knowledgeable. He's helped me become a better painter - the very first time I visited he asked me if I wanted a painting tutorial - and most times I visit he's helping someone new learn to play. There's almost always a game going on in the back, and folks don't mind if you spectate or ask questions.
I put off my visit and entry into the hobby for a while because I wasn't sure what to expect here. Comic shops and local game stores can be forbidding to newcomers, and even if they're not, they can still be insular. Sometimes it feels like you have to pass a test just to be able to walk in the door. The Clifton Park Warhammer store is the exact opposite of those kinds of spaces. In fact, I couldn't wait to bring my wife so she could see what I was so excited about. We kind of made a date out of it, grabbing some frozen yogurt and then stopping by.
If you're interested in Warhammer at all, even a little bit, do yourself a favor and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDecent place with plenty of events. Nice guy runs it and GW has really been trying to be a less terrible a company as of late. The store has a decent community and decent tables available for play. Fair warning if you enter the painting competitions they are publicly voted and basically a model size comparison test and less about painting. These competition have caused me to loose faith in the ability of the general public to judge art in any form. Other than that nice place but you will pay 15% more here than literally anywhere else when buying Games Workshop products. Because everyone else besides the corporate stores offer a 15% discount on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI only found out about this store today (July 10 2021) and I was thrilled when I found out that there was a store here. While it definitely helps with shipping costs and finding the right supplies, the owner Sean was a very nice guy and not only that but you can tell that heās not in it for the money and that Warhammer is really a passion of his and wants to be able to share that passion. As an added bonus one wall is all 40k and the other is all AoS which makes it easy to find the stuff you need. Definitely a must visit if your a Warhammer fan...
