I have eaten at Mr. Fuji many, many times. I moved to Clifton Park roughly three years ago, and they have been my go-to sushi spot when I get a craving. Lately, things have been getting much worse with their service. I can't speak for the Albany location, I've never been there, but the Clifton Park location constantly forgets items, or does not care to fix issues that arise.
Today is President's Day, Monday 2/17/2025. I ordered a spicy salmon roll and the sushi lunch entree which comes with 5 pieces and a California roll. I like to be on time and make sure everything is smooth sailing, so I ordered it at 11:19AM, 11 minutes before they officially opened. Now, mind you, I'm at work and trying to stay on top of it, so I figured this would make it easier to keep timeframes tight and make lunch easy. Boy was I wrong...
Luckily I work with multiple monitors and had my order status open to the side, because I noticed out of the corner of my eye that my order went from "Confirmed", back to "Received". I'm thinking this is weird, so I give it 5-10 minutes before calling the restaurant.
"No, we don't have your order", they tell me multiple times. I had to tell them that I'm looking at the order on Mealeo and the money is out of my account.
Finally after some back and forth, the woman on the phone tells me it's because "they aren't doing lunch specials for any holidays". Okay, great, let's call Mealeo and get this sorted... I call Mealeo and they blame the restaurant, then tell me they need to charge me MORE to adjust the pricing because lunch options aren't available. Seriously?
So now, the money is spent, I've spent 45 minutes of my workday trying to make sure these people don't just steal my money (which they would have if I hadn't checked), and on top of all the irritations, they don't offer ANYTHING as a "sorry". I'm a very regular customer, so to have neither Mealeo nor Mr. Fuji extend some type of "oops, lets fix it" after they took my money and wasted my time... Simply put, it's outrageous.
Moral of the story here is, I will no longer be giving my business to a company who doesn't care to treat their patrons with respect. There are plenty of other options available locally, and it's a shame, because the food is decent at Mr. Fuji, but it's not worth the headache that comes along with trying to get the food.
Do better Mr. Fuji staff. I don't know what's happening but your ship is...

A week before a convention I was longing some Japanese themed food, and a hibachi is just the place you can find the good stuff. However I'm always about take out unless it's breakfast, luckily Mr. Fuji had me covered with a dinner box.
Went with the shrimp teriyaki box, which came with rice (I upgraded to fried), shrimp and vegetable tempura, a choice of side (harumaki was my pick), soup, salad, and a California roll. (I upgraded to a shrimp tempura roll) All together the price did come to a pocket patting $50, but let's be honest, this is a LOT of food.
I was very pleased that my oder over the phone for a later time was not just sitting there waiting for me when I arrived a few minutes early, as I much prefer to have the meal make me wait a little longer so it as fresh and hot as possible. Can't tell you how many times I've arrived to pickup an order at other locations, just to find my bag has been sitting there upwards of 15 to 20 minutes. Yikes. Not at Mr. Fuji's though, hot and fresh. Very nice.
Back home I sampled a little of everything and couldn't help but devour the sushi! I'll tell you now I, for over 20 years, have thought sushi to be gross and nasty tasting. But as an adult now, this stuff was the bomb! I loved it! Of course it wasn't raw fish, it was fried shrimp, but still, everything else was still there and I was down with it all. What a pleasant surprise.
The shrimp teriyaki was the same, a few bites and it was gone. That along with the harumaki, were just perfect. Wonderful flavors, the shrimp was just the right texture, and the onions below were surprisingly refreshing. The tempura was 50/50 though, with the shrimp side being a thumbs up but the vegetable side being a solid "meh". Wasn't a fan of the breading they used for the veggies, and they felt a bit under-fried with parts of the dough still uncooked. The fried rice was as one may expect, very filling. As for the salad, well, that got put away for another day as I eat somewhat backwards than I should have. Such is life.
Overall this was a grand experience, the service was also very friendly and fast. I could easily see myself returning here for a sit down meal with a party...
Read moreOverall it's a good time and prices are reasonable. Service is decent but they do tend to forget things and ignore the individual.
For example my son ordered broccoli only as a side with his hibachi, but it was mixed in with the rest of the veggies. Then when we said something it was just taken aside. As a result the broccoli tasted like onions so my son wouldn't eat them.
I ordered a filet mignon and my filet was then mixed with the other people's steak. When I said something I ended up with a mixture of filet and steak, and because filet is always a smaller cut, I got a smaller portion. Meanwhile, the guy who ordered the steak made out well. Usually I wouldn't let something so simple bother me, but it has happened three times there now, and this time I said something and it still happened!!
The staff has a sort of shut up, eat and go mentality. They always rush appetizers, soup, salad and the hibachi on top of each other. No care for piling the next meal
The atmosphere is decent, but not epic.
Lastly, the spicy mustard side is really not great, either overly runny, or lumpy, no in between which worries me when I get two sides of the same sauce and both sides differ in consistency???
It could be much better of they tried a little harder. I much prefer Koto and the quality and care I received there.
All this said, it's very popular and most I know love it. So perhaps I've been unlucky with my experience or just have a higher...
