I was seen on 2/18 for a near syncope episode. The staff was generally nice, however this is a picture of my arm after getting an IV with fluids as of 2/24 -almost a week later. I’ve had several IV’s in the past and have never had this happen. I don’t remember the nurses name otherwise I’d name her but, it’s been painful and obviously incredibly unsettling to see.

I came in for a severe sickness after being instructed by Urgent Care that I needed to be seen at a more intensive facility, so following their instruction I came to Malta Med.

Prior to my arrival I had been actively sick for several days, and was undeniably distraught. Upon my arrival all staff were kind and assisted me--with the exception of a Rebecca Broadway. She spoke condescendingly to me throughout the entirety of my stay. She asked me for my occupation, to which I told her I work in Behavioral Health. She then proceeded to ask my if that, “is some kind of desk job or a counselor” which was extremely uncalled for. In what aspect does my exact occupation determine the level of care I need? Is that relevant to my health at all? I work in behavioral health and I’m completing graduate school currently, so I’m unworthy of genuine care? It was very obvious that R. Broadway was looking to determine my level of education and make her own judgements from there. Absolutely unprofessional, and completely uncalled for—in this day and age is that how your establishment treats people?

After processing several labs, she returned to the room and told me that I, “looked perfect on paper” and there didn’t seem to be anything wrong. She came across as very adamant about this. Alluding to what, that I was faking being miserably ill for several days? That I was at Malta Med for sheer pleasure? When addressing the pressure in my ears and nausea she told me that it was due to my crying. I mean, come on. Where are the bedside manners? Where is the empathy?

Shortly after my mother-in-law arrived to accompany me, a nurse came in and stopped my IV saying that the PA didn’t want me to have all of the fluids. I sat in the room for twenty minutes before my mother-in-law found an aid to either remove the IV or determine if I needed the remaining fluid. As anticipated, I needed the remainder of the fluid and R. Broadway came in and turned the IV back on. However, it needed to be flushed—which wasn’t done when the IV was reinstated. So, for clarity the IV was was started, stopped, reconnected, flushed, and then completed taking double the amount of time that it would have.

There seemed to be a noticeable disconnect or miscommunication regarding my care. I was so upset for the treatment I had been given, and left feeling more embarrassed than I did healthy.

I do want to note that I’m thankful for Dr. Jane S. that was working that evening. She provided me with my discharge papers, gave me potassium supplements, and was overall significantly kinder to me. Everything about her was refreshing and I could not be happier that she was the last person to work with me before leaving.

And just for complete clarity, I was seen by my PCP that following Thursday and tested positive for cyclosporiasis. So, it goes without saying that R. Broadway’s behavior was not only callous and rude, but her assumption of me faking my illness was wrong. I was indeed very sick, and she treated me awfully. As someone who also works in heath care, I can’t help but feel disappointed in her lack of compassion.

I will not be coming back to Malta Med for services, and I’m reluctant to refer anyone I know there if this is the level of care they are expected to receive. I sincerely hope that Miss Broadway’s overall attitude to her patients improves for the sake of anyone else visiting...

I have been using Malta U.C for a decade +.

If you need serious help, save yourself the long wait time and the trip, and just go elsewhere because they will not help you. They would not know how to help you if you told them step by step what to do, the incompetence is real!

These people really aren't doing anything helpful for anyone in serious need. But when a dumb female walks in, huffing and puffing every time she isnt distracted on her phone to moan and groan.. lol..literally seeking opioids, which I could tell from across the room.. but they are on top of it! Testing and all! But I went there with severe pain and cramped legs with my limbs going numb... to the point I had fallen down twice in two days and progressing. With 10+ years healthcare experience, I even come highly recommended, and have a very honest reputation. I was straight to the point and gave very clear and detailed information. I thought I could have a blood clot because of how unusually painful it was. Or definitely something! Suffering from chronic pain and then having severe sudden pain that's different from the usual, is almost always a giant and clear sign of an underlying issue. The Physician looked at me, touched my pulse, and told me literally that he won't do anything for me. It is not that he "couldnt" it is that his very small and shallow perspective was unable to separate the common junkie from a good clean cut human being. They NEGLECTED to offer blood work, which having anemia and other health challenges, they absolutely were supposed to! 💯 they FAILED to run any kind of test at all. They neglected to refer me to the emergency room where theyd be more helpful, surely....

In fact, the only thing that they did do well is treat me like a Common Street Junkie seeking medication, because of one medication I have been on, that has nothing to do with anything even close to whatever junkies use! They made me feel so uncomfortable and did not help me at all and then sent me on my way without even offering Tylenol or ibuprofen or a shot anti inflammation to help the clear inflammation in my lower limbs.

Because it was busy and they needed rooms. So I was not important enough to actuslly CARE about. I felt it, watched it, and heard it happen as they discharged me without doing their jobs.

Their tiny perspectives are unable to comprehend a trustworthy human with a severe health issue. Come to find out, there is a serious underlying health issue.

I should sue you people for neglecting and failing to treat me as a patient, but honestly, none of you are even worth the time an energy it takes to even write this honest review.

You people are really terrible at your jobs. You're even worse with bedside manner. What I experienced was cold, disrespectful and inhumane.

I always thought this was a trustworthy facility, but now we know better, and so does everybody we know. You guys really went downhill with your staff. You have dishonest, fake people pretending to be doctors yet they are too incompetent to treat people with severe health issues. 💯 💀 Mark my words if there's more issues found pertaining to my serious health situation I will not stop until malta U.C pays for it. You don't get to mistreat and emotionally abuse...

I went in on Monday 1/31/23 at about 1am for what I thought was a kidney stone after waiting for over an hour i got seen and was told it wasn’t a kidney stone the back tension was still there after the recommended dose so I went back on Tuesday 2/1/23 around the same time 12:30 the prior day to get no real treatment because they thought all I wanted was opioids all I wanted was pain relief even if it was extra strong Advil that would actually relax my back muscles so I can actually fall asleep only to be met with “he’s only here for opioids and narcotics” fortunately not the whole staff was rude to me regarding their own thoughts and did get some extra strength Advil which did help unfortunately though the other nurses need to look more into the individual patients information and if they had they would have found my history of kidney stones and back pain as well as I rarely take prescription opioids and always ask for a more healthy and less addictive alternative to pain medication unlike a population of humans in America I do not want to be addicted but what I do want is to not be in pain malta really needs to step their game up when it comes to individual patient care I know it’s a “fast paced” (not that fast if I wait for over an 2 hours for a room and another 2-3 to actually see the doctor) medical emergency clinic but not everyone is a drug addict sometimes we’re real humans in real pain going to the only place we’re supposed to go to be met with care and proper treatment I can understand where their thoughts were coming from with the epidemic were currently in regarding opioids but not everyone is a user and it would be appropriate for their degrees and level of education to be able to discern an addict and a non addict I personally don’t like feeling the way opioids effects feel but if you’re in pain for 2 days straight and ask for help and the first time doesn’t work out with what they prescribed I don’t think i should be too far off to go back when I wasn’t able to see my primary doctor if I really wanted the opioids I would have went straight to him. I don’t want opioids though I just want to be comfortable enough to sleep and go to work the next day as I’m a autobody technician and my job requires using my back everyday for multiple reasons. I do want to say the doctor on staff and her nurse Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning were above and beyond amazing and the conversations I was able to have was a good distraction from the pain although I had to sit in specific positions to get enough release to calm myself down they were super respectful I did have to rate it 2 starts for the nurse and doctor unfortunately everyone else made me feel like a drug addict over my back pain even after they told me I have a cyst on my kidney Tuesday morning after they...
