That was my first time visiting cold spring. Trying to get away from the city. The place was really nice. Quiet and cozy. However, please do not go there during the holiday. We went there during Christmas. Half of the stores were closed on the next day we arrived and all the stores were closed on Christmas day (first day we arrived). We almost starved. Luckily, our place was waiting for us to arrive before they closed. So we just ordered our dinner right away. It was an entirely different experience and unexpected experience. But it was nice. Will recommend my friends to visit (not during holiday lol). We will visit it again to visit the rest of the stores that we didn't visit and try out the food we didn't get a chance to try...

Painted by Johann Hermann Carmiencke (1810-1867). This is a gorgeous work showing the Appalachian Mountains passing through the Hudson River Valley. What appears a rather bucolic scene was already a center of the first great armaments center in America, tightly linked with the Military Academy just across the River. The arrangement of the peaks of the Hudson Highlands is slightly exaggerated, but after a pleasant stay in this area, you may find the views just as impressive as the artist has...

I've been heading up to Cold Spring for the better part of a decade, to get away from the insanity of Jersey City and NYC. A peace and quiet pocket of an isolated suburbia...well, not TOO isolated anymore, because more city tourists come here than I'd prefer, defeating the purpose of my visit. Still, sitting by the water with the sun shining down on me while reading a book or listening to music is a treat I look forward to a couple of times a Summer. No place like...

This station puts you close to a lovely little town that is just so picturesque. Many people get off here on weekends during this time to go hiking on one of their many trials. Nothing spectacular about the stop itself, like many other stops along the route on the metro north. Get off here if you're looking for a little break from the city. I will definitely return but earlier in the day, now that it gets dark quicker.

Beautiful quaint place. My boyfriend and I just finished a 3.5-hour hike from Breakneck Ridge trail. We then went to have dinner at Cold Spring, at a French restaurant. Walked around. Had a beer at a pizza spot. They have a cute wine stores and antique shops. Really nice place. Some closed their streets for a neighborhood bbq which was cool. It was Labor Day weekend.
