Jamaica Jerk Pit — Restaurant in Virginia

TL;DR: great portions, the food is fantastic and always, always made to order so it's fresh-to-death and flavorful! This of course means you'll need to wait a bit longer when you order, but it is SO worth it!

The catering is LEGIT! Portions are enormous and pricing is very fair! Do not skip this place

This spot is AMAZING. I'm always trying new (and favorite) food haunts whenever I'm visiting family in Richmond and this place was brought up during my Thanksgiving trip.

I tried the LEFTOVERS from this place (jerk chicken, rice and peas and some cabbage) and was blown away! I HAD to try this fresh, so the next day we all ventured out and I tried their curry chicken with the same sides and a beef patty. What followed was the most intense noshing sessions sense Thanksgiving dinner itself, the portion was huge and it was fast becoming a situation where I needed to just put the fork down and walk away 😅

Talk of catering was brought up and my mom started looking into it. I was a bit worried at this point given our recent experience with catering from a small business, but decided I wasn't going to hold that against this new spot - they absolutely deserved the benefit of doubt and a chance, I just didn't want my mom taken advantage of again.

AND HOLY SH*T DID THEY DELIVER!!

My mom had a specific idea of how much food she wanted, the chef and staff was involved during the entire process to make sure we had enough food for everyone and he had an EXACT idea of how many orders we needed. The chef and owner both came in early to prepare our catering order and came out to introduce themselves as they'd only spoken over the phone up to this point.

There is SO MUCH AMAZING FOOD HERE, you know...the way a catering order should be? This whole exchange was top notch A+, 10/10, 100% verified - a STARK contrast to the terrible, terrible catering experience we had at Lebanese Bakery (now known as Shwarma Inc) and those pathetic catering portions they tried to pass off on us.

All of this was had for about $183 (about $10-$15 less than what we paid at Lebanese Bakery/Shwarma Inc if memory serves).

Don't pass on this place. Good food is hard to come by and they're making it here all the time!

I placed an order online with special instructions via Uber Eats and immediately called the restaurant to explain my special instructions. The lady that answered the phone was not customer friendly at all and stated my orders could not be prepared without rice or vegetables, although I was still paying the full same price as a meal with those items. Then she asked me to hold on and took a while to come back to the phone and rudely said the same thing of the order could not be as I requested because they make the orders as a meal. My issue is why not if I’m still paying the full price. So, I cancelled the order. I was refunded; however, I did not receive my full price that I paid of over $50 and was charged a cancellation fee of over $20 because Uber Eats stated the restaurant said they had started preparing the order and the fee was for them preparing and the hard work in preparing the order. That was ridiculous. What hard work? Over $20 for what? How could they have started preparing and done any hard work when I had, in fact, called them immediately after I submitted my order. I never got to taste and critique their food actually, but I do see how they conduct business unfairly and are not accommodating. Therefore, I refuse to do any consumer business with...

Great Jamaican food - fresh and flavorful. Even better hospitality - friendly and nice. Our family of 4 grabbed the last 4 chicken patties available that Sunday afternoon. Yummy and truly whetted our appetites. Jerk chicken and curry chicken our entrees for the day - no try goat or seafood. Got mixed sides - rice and peas. Tender chicken just melted into our mouths. Perfectly spiced too.

Lady pampered us with her lovely talk about Indians in Jamaica. She kindly introduced our family to the chef and her niece owner. Lotsa to go customers. We were the only ones to eat on the bar stools. Clearly they are mostly take out.

Got 2 Jamaican fruit juice bottles - ginger and the fruit medley. Kid loved it. Quite sugary though. Should have stuck just to the food. Anyways this is another addition to our must eat local list and we will definitely be back! An affordable tasty...
