Christy's Department Store — Local services in Tybee Island

extremely rude always treated like we are there to steal no one greeted us no one even asked what we were looking for staff lacks integrity and looking for a fight TRAPPED US IN THE STORE They should have let us know one of our bags was dripping and ask us to fix it or leave the store in a professional matter. It is never okay to immediately take an attitude with the customer. It was completely out of line to lock us in. You seriously think there is any chance of me buying anything after noticing that? Think again. My rant is below.. I visited this store with some younger siblings of mine. We came from the beach recently and I realized my clothes and our towels was accidentally left in the driver's car. So I had to shop around for something else to wear. Apparently my sister's bag was dripping and we didn't know. No one had the sense to tell us. We would have left kindly. Instead they lock the doors and trap us in the store while I try to look around for decent priced towels and a dress. One of the employees pretended to be nice and went behind to complain about us. The old lady walked up to my sister and said in an extremely unprofessional and rude matter that she can't drip around her store and she had to leave because we were not wanted. The second I saw her do that, I said "Okay kids lets go. I am not spending my money in a store where they are rude like this." I took my money elsewhere. The other stores gave no problems at all.

I almost forgot to leave a review. There is a little store near by that sells charms, bracelets, etc. for $5 and she is so much nicer than that...

Don't waste you're time. Staff is extremely rude!! They act like they don't want you there & watch every customer as if they are stealing something. They also have a 'no photography' rule, which I find ridiculous. If you'd like to buy a shirt for a friend, you can't even take a picture (to text to them, just to make sure they like it) without the staff yelling at you. There is nothing in this store that would be an issue to photograph. I have visited other stores on Tybee Island that sell ARTWORK (painting, photos, metal decor) & if you'd prefer (NOT required) you can give a small donation to take pictures. Those stores still allow photos. While Christy's is a souvenir shop- everything should be allow to be photographed. I was simply taking a picture when 2 staff memebers YELLED "no photography in the store!" & "we don't allow pictures!". I work in customer service & know very well there are MANY more ways this could have been said politely to reinforce the unnecessary rule. I was with a group of friends looking at tee shirts, they were $5 if you bought so many and being that my friends were buying some I asked if I checked out separately if I could have the sale price, the lady said yes. I went to check out immediately after the lady told me this (after my friends checked out), she told me that she had never seen me before and did not tell me I could have the sale price. My friends returned their shirts because she was so rude to me and they told us not to come back in their store again - they definitely don t have to worry about me coming back! She laughed as I was walking out the door saying i was having a bad day. She told me she was the owner when I asked to speak to a manager. Horrible experience - steer clear!
