Here's the scenario, we had just moved to Texas and my bride and I are getting married in a week out in California. We'd been planning the wedding from Pennsylvania for a little over a year and I didn't have a suit yet.
One day, we drive to Men's Wearhouse and find me the perfect blue suit! Get fitted and a week or so before the wedding, I pick up my suit. My wife had already left for California and I hung the suit up on a light fixture downstairs temporarily until I took it upstairs to pack. That was a mistake.
Between doing my fantasy football draft and Game of Thrones, I forgot the suit on the light fixture and had, in fact, turned the light on. Stupid. Unbeknownst to me, this "tree lamp" had these glass covers over the halogen bulbs that got incredibly hot while the lamp was on. The next day, Monday, 6 days before the wedding mind you, I go to pack my suit and all my stuff for the trip out to California. To my horror, I found I had burned a hole through my wedding suit. This lamp had burned through the back of the jacket and both legs of the pants, destroying my suit. I freaked out, didn't know what to do, called my best man and boss to no avail. Then a sense of calm came over me, what could I do? I had to get a new suit and not tell my future wife about this until the honeymoon. I called Men's Wearhouse at 8:30pm, 30 minutes before closing, starting the conversation simply with, "You've probably never had a conversation like the one we're about to have." I went into the story and the associate put the newly appointed manager, Chris, on the line.
Chris calmed me down and immediately went to work. He found my suit at a store in Houston and attempted to get it to Tyler ASAP so we could refit it and ship it to California before the wedding. Chris was incredibly kind, professional, and thoughtful as he helped me over the next week. The suit was due to arrive in CA on Wednesday but Hurricane Harvey delayed shipment. I'm in California, sweating it day to day in the lead up to the wedding waiting for my suit. In dramatic fashion, the suit arrived Saturday afternoon during the rehearsal lunch, 24 hours before showtime. Thank you Chris!...
Read moreEdit: changed from a 2 to a 4 star just because everything worked out in the end and all the store representatives including the one I complained about were very nice and quick on the 2nd pick up day and on return day.
Went here as a group for a wedding. The worker who helped us seemed in a rush for no reason and there were no other customers that he needed to take. He also seemed disgruntled as he at one point rolled his eyes at a co-worker as they walked away and not as a joke but out of disrespect. The other workers seemed nice for the most part, but this one worker we dealt with was abysmal. Our measurements weren't taken, and only our height and weight were. When trying on jackets we were rushed and only put them on for a few seconds without being able to even look at them in the mirror.
We ordered these suits over a month ago and they arrived 2 days before the wedding. My shirt smelled putrid, but the others were fine. I had to re-order the shirt which it will arive the morning of the wedding. One person in our groups jacket was too big and again was offered to be re-ordered despite that party member telling the worker the jacket looked too big and he wanted a slimmer jacket on the day of ordering. Without letting him try on the slimmer jacket he said it would work and he'd get him a slim one. Our hankerchief did not match our vests or ties when trying it on 2 days before the wedding, which again the worker hurridly chose on the order day and said if folded correctly it would match. No apologies were given by any of the staff for these inconviences on the day of pick-up.
These suits were $250 for a rental which in my mind is outrageous. I don't recommend this place if you're looking for high...
Read moreI have been a lifelong, loyal customer of the Men’s Wearhouse. I shopped at the Preston Center location for many years until it closed several years ago. I’ve shopped at the Tyler location a few times. Yesterday when I arrived at the Tyler store I was not greeted nor offered any assistance for several minutes upon entering the store. The salesperson I’ve dealt with in the past stated he was busy working on something and couldn’t assist me. There was a sales person behind the counter with his coat and beanie on who also didn’t offer to help me and I assumed he was ready to go home, although the store didn’t close for at least three hours. The man in the beanie said he’d get someone to help and walked into the back, later to re-emerge telling me to go talk to a girl in the back of the store. I went to the back of the store and the girl he directed me to was looking at him as if to say, “Did you really just send him back here?” Needless to say, I guess after shopping at the Preston Center location for years my expectation was too high for what had become just another box store with employees who could care less, but my experience last night was not what I’d come to know through the years at the Men’s Wearhouse. I left and politely told Mr. Beanie I’d find somewhere else to shop. Luckily, I found a very nice men’s store in Tyler, not far from where I was. The men’s store I will not name, but the staff was very helpful and I made a very generous purchase. So long,...
